"I am Loki Scar-Lip, Loki Skywalker, Loki Giant's Child, Loki Lie-Smith. I am Loki, who is fire and wit and hate. I am Loki. And I will be under an obligation to no one."
This and the inclusion / use of Ra's Al Ghul were my only gripes with arkham city. I love Ra's, but I was already getting kind of annoyed at how EVERYONE was in Arkham City, so he was just the last straw. And I was so hyped at the sword fight, and was immensely disappointed at the actual fight (sand monster + clones).
But yeah, tired of the joker, and don't see how he's the best fit for a game featuring the league.
'Oh god no'
Really?
Barbara as Batgirl is that distasteful to you?
Considering Barbara's current positioning in the DCU (as Batgirl) and the fact that this was apparently initiated by corporate dictates, the fact that as a Silver Age prequel Barbara (or even Bette Kane) makes a lot more sense than Cass, it sounds like you might be disappointed- should any Batgirl even appear in this game.
So how about this- Barbara Batgirl with a Cass (and Steph) dlc skinpack? Would that work for ya?
Actually, when talking about what characters will be featured, I'd say the big question is, if this game is going to be based on the 50s comics, will it feature Martian Manhunter instead of Cyborg?
The Arkham games seem to have more TAS influence than comic influence so I would imagine (and hope) they stay close to the TAS continuity.
If they do, I can see them having Dick but not Babs.
Chill!
After looking at the footage for the Injustice game where they have Cyborg with the Justice League, I'm thinking the same thing. It seems like they really want to push this iteration of the team.
They didn't really though, outside of reusing some of the same voice actors. For one, I'm pretty sure Oracle never existed in the DCAU, and the costumes and designs don't really line up at all. I doubt they plan on using TAS as a reference point for the prequel. The Arkham games seem to have more TAS influence than comic influence so I would imagine (and hope) they stay close to the TAS continuity.
I just hope that WB doesn't get too involved in the development. Executive meddling can really screw things up.
Also, why do people still believe that Mark Hamill is retired as the Joker? He's already said in several interviews that he's not really retired. Heck, he played the Joker again for a DC Universe Online DLC after he did Arkham City.
It wasn't just the voice actors. It was also a matter of characters from TAS were already in the continuity while characters not introduced in TAS like Hush and Azrael were new encounters. Then consider the Robin situation. There was no mention of Jason or Damian, only Dick and Tim. Sure Oracle was never in TAS and The Killing Joke was kind of referenced in Arkham Asylum but there was clearly a gap between TAS and Arkham. For one thing, Tim Drake was older.
Sure the look was different, but that's to be expected.
Chill!
No, no, no. Either make a JLA game or don't, but don't derail the conclusion of the Arkham storyline for some Silver-Age (which I hope is only in reference to the JL lineup, if blue Batman shows up with speedo Robin I'm gonna throw up) Bat-centric JL intro story. If they want to expand the Arkhamverse into a legit DCVGU that'd be great but not at the cost of a third real Arkham game.
Also Joker, AGAIN!? AC was IMO a great Joker story and a great end for the character in the Arkhamverse. If this game is supposed to rope in the JL you have to go bigger than just Joker, he's never done anything on his own to warrant bringing in the whole JL, especially if it's supposed to be his and Batman's first meeting. A real JL game against a Luthor, Ra's or Savage led team of bad guys would be epic, JL cameos while Batman pursues the Joker again would not.
Hush, who they teased so well, could easily be the main bad guy in the next game with Scarecrow(another dangling thread) and others. If they maybe make Azrael and Nightwing playable in the story that would be enough expansion of the PC roster, just keep it in the Bat-Family and keep moving forward.
The ONLY way this JL tie-in prequel mess could turn out is if they do a version of Killing Joke(which would help secure MH) and bring in Red Hood as a bad guy/antihero in the next REAL Arkham game.
Which wouldn't make sense in the TAS canon since Tim Drake was forced to retire after getting brainwashed by the Joker. They also used the Basil Karlo version of Clayface instead of Matt Hagen like in the TV show, keeping the actor background and everything. And then of course there's the obvious thing, Joker explicitly dies in Return of the Joker and yet his death in Arkham City happens in an entirely different manner.
