Default Marcus Johnson (Nick Fury Jr.) Appreciation

Even though he has only been around for a short period of time,Nick Fury Jr is proving to be a character who will shape the future of the Marvel universe :)

It was made to make fun of Marcus Johnson and Marvel process of introducing him but it does good job of telling the story of Battle Scar

So come in appreciate Nick Jr and let mark his progress and rise he rise through the ranks of Marvel.

I dont know if this is sarcasm or not. but yeah sure Im game to appreciating Marcus.

Not to mention his bet bud Coulson, who I hope will be at his side in whichever new Book he is featured in.

Oh and you have to have Maria Hill...and SHIELD agent who was playing the video game.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Battle Scars miniseries. At the end of the 1st issue where Marvel wrote that letter indicating that they were really getting behind this character, I was sold. Now its coming to fruition and i couldn't be happier about that.

I liked the first five and three-quarters issues of Battle Scars, so sure.

I'm hoping Marvel stick to what they said at the end of that series and use him in a more field agent, action-heavy role. Partially to distinguish him from his father, but also because SHIELD comics in the last few years have been heavy on the conspiracy storylines and it would be nice to use Marcus to steer back towards doomsday weapons and flying cars.

No it is not sarcasm,Unlike some of the haters i am willing to ignore Marcus Johnson start because they was no easy way to make Nick Fury black in 616 you had three choices

1.Black Face-Stick the original Nick Fury in a black body which is awful idea far worse than Battle Scar
2.Alternate Reality Nick Fury--Bring Alternate reality Nick Fury most likely Nick Fury UU which is ok idea but weaken UU
3.Nick Fury Black Son--Which is was good idea but decide to squeeze all of the changes in Battle Scar which made the story seem forced

Any way they choose it was going to be awkard,So i am willing to forget because Nick Fury Jr has potential to be good character and UU Nick Fury is good indication and is now the blue print for Marcus and we get character similar to that in 616

Its really just nice to be able to follow a new character with a fresh perspective in the 616.

too bad that more black characters can't get this type of support from the get go, or even long-standing black characters, i.e., blade, panther, falcon, misty knight, monica rambeau, etc.

Or option #4: leave well enough alone. I wonder Marcus would have been more accepted if they didn't turn him into 616s movie version of Fury.

Marcus Johnson is special case,Black Sam Jackson Nick Fury has already made appearance in movies and cartoons,Marcus has some level recognition built in already,It is reverse process him normally a character gets comic then the movie and cartoons.Unlike many of minority characters Marcus is built for success all they have to make a solid comic and Avengers 2 and Ultimate Spiderman cartoon and Avengers Assemble cartoon will keep raising his profile.Which is why i support him we need as much success stories with minority characters once we get couple success then companies won't as shy away from Black and minority characters with out knowing Mile Morales was good character i supported him and thankful he is turning into a great character,Without if knowing Nick Fury Jr will be a good character i will support him and until he proven not to be a good character.

    Goes conspiracy NUT with it.

Its all a plan by Marvel, see.

    :looks around, checking for agents:

A plan to topple right wing organizations.

First..It was Brubaker with the Tea Party crowd.

Then Luke Cage marries..a..well you know.

    now this.

    And even his name.

    :looks around again:

    Marcus Johnson.

    get it.

    Mark us with his Johnson.

    :puffs on cigarette:

This thing is big man. Marvel NOW.

    Its a devious plot man.

    :runs back into the alley:

I mention it in option 3 they rush all the changes in battle scars to everything thing seem forced,If they spread out it over his series it would probably have gone better but that is spill milk which can't be change are we suppose to stay forever mad at decision to do so?He has mediocre origin story so do many characters can't still become a good character?

I liked reading about Marcus Johnson. Battle Scars wasn't perfect, leaned towards boring a few times, but the final issue switch was such a bad idea.

I could hear the backlash from miles away when I saw the last page. And I feel bad for everyone who's defending the character now because there's a blatant target for haters to aim at. It's like the first story arc of Hudlin's Black Panther or Black Panther vs Silver Surfer.

Not worried one bit. Im a fan of Daken and X-23.

So this Backlash thing aint new. I just hate the fact people are acting like this is some end-all sacrilege.
