Trying to make sense of the chaotic scene around her, Evaine could comprehend little of what she heard. "Shapeshifting" she understood, having practiced it herself; and "teleporting" sounded like Transfer Portals. She knew from her Latin studies that "mutant" meant "changing"; and "panoptichron" seemed to be derived from the Greek words for "seeing all time." (Evaine felt a surge of curiosity; was such a thing possible for mere mortals?) But what were "alternate realities"? "Computers"? "Unstable molecules"? " The Council of Cross-Time Kangs"? And was a "multiverse" a poem with many verses? What was going on here?
And mine has Healers and priests who can do the same, thought Evaine. Oh, Rhys, my love! Are we to be parted forever?Originally Posted by American Woman
Was this woman mad? Evaine wondered. Did she want to die? How else did she expect to get into Heaven? Evaine instinctively reached out with her mind to offer sympathy and comfort, only to recoil in shock from the thoughts and memories churning in the pregnant woman's mind.Originally Posted by Empress Wanda

Upon hearing Blink's speech, Evaine felt somewhat relieved to realize that their presence here had a purpose. But even with their varied powers, could they do what was required of them?
