According to this article he may not even be called Vertigo.

Exciting news, Arrow fans: DC Comics villain Count Vertigo is going to be one of Oliver Queen’s major enemies during much of this season.

This news comes from TV Line, which cautions that Vertigo will look much different from what comic fans may remember. In fact, he might not even be called Vertigo, but that name will make an appearance. The drug that has been “all the rage” in Season 1 will be called “Vertigo,” but it’s unclear whether that will be connected to this new nemesis.

Even if he does have a new name, Vertigo will act the same. He’ll still have the ability to “disorient and unbalance his victims” and will reportedly be “downright terrifying.”

“He will be truly scary and nightmarish,” TV Line’s source tells the site, adding that Not-Vertigo will be “Oliver’s deadliest adversary to date.”

Vertigo is just the latest name from the DC catalog to make his way to Arrow this season, joining the likes of The Huntress, China White, Deathstroke, the Royal Flush Gang and Firefly.

It’s worth noting that this role is yet to be cast, so we’ll likely find out more about this new version of the character when an actor is picked for the part.

There could be lots of ways for Laurel to don the bustier and fishnets,

I most obvious way is the Batman animated series Batgirl route where something happens to her dad and she is forced to become Black Canary to save him or avenge him ( if they choose to kill him).

I would rather they go in a more subtle way, like perhaps Dinah gets involved in a legal case with a mafia boss (human trafficking), the case hits a dead end and she decides to do some solo undercover work by disguising a call girl. At this point she puts on the blonde peekaboo wig and puts a beauty mark on her face and then ofcourse the fishnets and bustier and poof we get our golden age classic Black Canary and its grounded in reality.

Things don’t go as planned and she get into a lot of trouble etc……. as for her Canary Cry, sonic sound bombs are her only option.

Hopefully Count Vertigo is some European aristocrat who is totally off the rails, vaguely sadistic and fully exploits diplomatic immunity. Trafficks a drug called Vertigo, so they call him Count Vertigo.

For real, that mask is terrible. I'm having trouble taking him seriously.

    Man this thread is hilarious.

It's supposed to be a show about Green Arrow, but it's called Arrow because the execs don't want it to be too superhero-ey, like they're embarrassed about that fact. On top of that, the posters in this thread also appear embarrassed, and don't want any of the characters from the comic books to be called by their comic book names, or even remotely look like their comic book selves.

Why does this show even exist if the whole reason it exists is suppressed?

    This show is doomed.
    I seriously miss Captain Mar-Vell.

It's not embarrassment. It's the fact that the show's producers set a TONE for the show. And once that tone is set, they need to be consistent with it. If the show is all over the place in tone, THEN it will fail.

And before you get so snobbish, maybe you ought to check out Mike Grell's long-running and pretty much universally-loved Green Arrow comic book series from the 1980s and 1990s. You know, the one that took a more grounded approach, featured close to no super-heroes and about ZERO super-powers during his entire 80-issue run (not including annuals and Longbow Hunters). That one. I remember Hal showed up and I don't think he was called "Green Lantern" once the entire time. He was just Hal.

Just because what some of us want to see in the tv show is different than what you would like, it doesn't make us any less comic fans. And judging by your post, I think some of us might in fact be bigger Green Arrow fans than you are.

They called it 'Arrow' to avoid it being confused with Green Lantern, which was a failure.

Holy shit, that was mentioned in this episode.

Walter keeps getting better with every episode. I like the idea of the stepfather being the good guy while the mother is the one associated with the villains. Moira herself finally warmed up to me, because up until know I've been thinking that she was just really good at keeping up a ruse and that she might have just been using Ollie, but I'm glad that this episode proved otherwise.

Yeah, Deathstroke's mask was silly. Oh well, at least we might be able to see him again, right?

Can't say I'm too excited for next week's episode, though.

It makes the police seem inept (though it may be the head cop is Lances buddy and turned a blind eye), but Ollie didn't consult the family lawyers: until Dinah accepted the case he was going to defend himself. As for her not calling attention to it: A) he's her dad and B) Ollie wanted her as his lawyer to get through to him, not get him kicked off the case.

I agree with you in general about comic book shows/movies embracing the books, but it's still a rather good show, and to call it doomed when it's getting the biggest ratings the network's seen in years is just silly.

Ollie just brought that out in this episode. Man, don’t act like you where hip with his plan when you were watching last week’s episode.
