really hope the mindless rampaging Grundy shows up in the New 52

at the end of Earth 2 #3 we got our first look at the new Solomon Grundy. he appears to be the avatar of the Grey. the life destroying force that opposes the Green. he appeared much skinnier and he is also sporting a gothic butcher type look. not only does he kinda resemble Nekron, but he seemed to speak more coherently and not in his usual unintelligible way.
with all the recent mainstream appearances (Arkham City and the upcoming DC fighting game) it seemed like Grundy was getting pretty popular. Now he's not even the same charcter. Kind of a waste of some real potential. i know there have been many versions of Solomon Grundy in the past, since his personality changes every time he is reborn from Slaughter Swamp. so a change in his personality isnt really a big deal. im really interested to see what Robinson does with the character here as, so far, ive enjoyed all the new versions of the Earth 2 characters. im not at all worried as the character has just barely appeared and we really know very little about this new version. i just hope that the "classic" Grundy will return in the near future.

In the past James did a great job with Grundy in Starman.

Well, Grundy was reborn with a different personality each time he died so it's not impossible if Alan ends up killing him...if thats even possible, but you could also end up with this Grundy:

This. Also this. Plus don't expect anyone that you've seen in Earth-2 to start appearing in the regular earth. DC wants to seperate the 2 right now.

It's still pretty early... we've only seen him in one panel, and we don't even know that the narrator was Grundy himself, it might be the Grey equivalent of the Green Flame. Grundy himself could be pretty mindless already. And even if he's not, it's only the first story. There was a Golden Age story where Grundy was intelligent, could walk on moonbeams back to Earth, and had inexplicable shape-changing powers that were never mentioned again.

The point being: it's in flux. Especially with something as vast and, hmm, "making it up as we go along" as the DC reboot, there are going to be changes. We'll almost inevitably get dumb Grundy back at some point, even if it's not this storyline. Unless this version ends up being way more interesting, in which case we wouldn't want him back anyway.

Though not as big as the Arkham Asylum version where he's something like twice as tall as Batman.

i loved the Arkham City version! really paid homage to Frankenstein as a huge influence on the original Solomon Grundy.

this one is ok. just not diggin the whole Marilyn Manson getup he's got on.

He looks like he is just quietly passing by the JLA after they have passed out.
