Other.. please tell us who?
lol, people really think someone's going to die in this story? Maimed? yes. Killed? no way.
I hope this event breaks up the family. Maybe by the end of this, they all hate each other and go their separate ways. Or maybe they blame Batman for the death of one of the characters and the family breaks up.
The problems with killing a Bat-family member is what will happen to their books? I can see anyone dying that isn't Damian (Only Grant can kill him), Batman (He just recently died), Nightwing (He has his own book), Jason (His character is known for his death so he won't die again), Batgirl (She has her own book).
Who I CAN see dying is Tim Drake (In a book called Teen Titans -- he doesn't need to be on the team), Jim Gordon (The Joker was after him in the Killing Joke and Barbara got hurt instead -- Snyder's favorite Joker story), Alfred (All of the Bat-family have strong ties to him, but he hasn't interacted with many of them in the New 52), or Luscious (He doesn't even need to exist, but he adds dimension to Batman --what has he done so far in the New 52?)
This arc isn't ending until April of next year. A couple months after Marvel finishes their NOW campaign and right when Didio tries to take back anything DC lost. Snyder has said he's looking forward to mangling a beloved Bat character. He wants this story to be remembered like "Death in the Family", and "Killing Joke". He pretty much has to kill someone to do that. I also think editorial has big plans for Nightwing, Raven and other former Titans that will have to start showing up by then if DC is going to create a new fall buzz like "The New 52" or "Zero Issue month" next year.

Why does he have to kill someone to do that? Killing Joke is remembered for paralyzing Barbara Gordon. Look where she is today.
Chill!
He has to kill someone, because just injuring them won't provide enough effect anymore. If Tim Drake can't walk then he becomes Oracle. If Alfred looses an arm no one will really care next month. Whatever happens has to take a character out for a considerable amount of time, or... they die and have their own arc about their resurrection. If Dick, Damian, Jason, or a BoP dies their story becomes about reviving the character. It increases sales all around. If their injured it has to be permanent so Tim and Alfred are the only two targets without a title to carry.

I wish it was that punk kid Damien... I have tried to like Damien, but I just don't.
I think it would be interesting if the situation with Damian is revealed during this encounter with the Joker and that's the catalyst that bring about the 'death' of the family. Bruce could lose his moral authority concerning allowing the Joker to keep living. He's killed one of their own before and shot Barbara. But he's I think they all believe in his no killing policy but then find out he's been keeping the killing Damian's done from them and there's been no repurcussions. Jason will kill. Damian's made Tim admit to wanting to kill. But Bruce has been the one to keep them all in line, so to speak. Jason is estranged because of his actions but Damian is treated differently. Add into this someone who be maimed and I could see Bruce being seen as betraying his own beliefs to those around him.
is it confirmed its someone in the bat family? It might be another family altogether like owls, Falcone, etc.
honestly I don't think its going to be the same as before, if it its a Bat its probably somebody useless that the majority doesn't care about like Stephanie Brown... if only to bring her back as Spoiler and introduce Black Bat and never do anything with either character :/
Snyder said he's mangling a beloved bat character. He also said they won't let him use Steph or Cass. Killing either of them would be total trolling by DC, but I would buy it. Snyder wants the Joker to go after these family members to beat them, not to hurt The Bat for once, so I don't think it will be Damian, Bruce is just always too close. There is no point in proving you're better than Alfred. I don't think Joker cares enough about Inc. to go after Batwing or BoP. Jason and Barbara have backup with them, basically that leaves Dick and Tim (who really should have backup from the Titans but doesn't in Gotham). Either one can die in the Batman book without effecting the other stories too much.
