Basri on Supergirl? Me likey. Foreman guesting on Action Comics? Should be interesting.

Comics were happier before the Internet turned writing superhero stories into fruitless attempts to impress/entertain a small group of ppl who appear to hate comics and their creators.
Grant Morrison
The Phantom Stranger is somehow supposed to be Superman's parallel in the Trinity of Sin, so that might be the case. I wasn't sure if Action Comics was in the past or the present, because doesn't it usually flip between the two? It doesn't sound like the Annual picks up where #13 left off like JLD and Batgirl will.
my boy superboy is on three covers in the solicits, and they are all good covers,im glad he is getting more exposure,he needs it.oh and add in the YJ book and superman family adventures to that list too.
Dont mess with the "S"
Basri was pretty amazing on Power Girl back during the Generation Lost stuff. I got to know Asrar around the same exact time after Lemire's really nice Brightest Day: The Atom one-shot. They're two of my favorite artists I'd never heard of until last year and have complimentary styles.

Action definitely jumps around; while "set in the past", that intermission with the Legion of Adult Super-Heroes featured the Present Day Superman, so that is a Present Day story where Now Superman visits his own flashback storyline. I imagine despite being set on Earth-23 in a parallel universe, the President Superman story was set in the present and has parallels and concepts that are shared with the Present Day Superman. But certainly last issue felt "5 Years Ago".
I'm excited to see Foreman guest on Action. (Basically I think it would be a coup of Rags had to leave and Foreman got drafted, despite there being nothing horrendously wrong with Rags' capable art. It's just lacking in style and composition.) Anyway, that menacing clawed mechanical hand pretty much reintroduces Doctor Xa-Du from the Anti-Superman Army, much the same way that group foreshadowed Nimrod, Susie Thompkins, the original green Kryptonite Man (whom Sholly Fisch is covering). It's basically a faster-paced, way-more-sci-fi version of how Grant introduced the Batman and Robin villains in the 666 Future, exception being that he made up those guys whole-clothe, these are all actually obscure Superman villains that already exist. Still, he likes that narrative of showing this threatening, mysterious group threat in the future and then introducing them all one by one and making you like them. He basically did it with the Club of Villains, too, introducing them in action helping take down Batman ... but we didn't learn anything about them besides their silly villain themes, until Incorporated started and we actually got spotlights on Sombrero, Scorpiana, and will likely see a couple more of them again.
Morrison-does-Phantom Stranger seems like something I've been waiting for a long time without realizing it. It could also indicate Morrison pulling a little more inspiration from the Bob Haney Brave & Bold, or DC Presents Superman team-ups. It could also be DiDio's editorial prerogative but it seems like a good example of that rather than a bad example.
If he's Superman's equivalent in the Sin-Trinity, "betrayer of a messiah" contrasted against a new allegorical "messiah-type", the others, Pandora as Wonder Woman's equivalent ("releaser of monsters" versus "battler of monsters"), and this weird version of The Question who has been paired with Batman before, seem pretty obvious. I'm not sure if the roles are supposed to be so clear-cut or obvious this far.

Can't wait for Krypto, and the Phantom Zone. Can you say Zod, Ursa, Non? :)
Pull-list: Action Comics, Batman, The Flash, Superman, Superman Unchained, Batman/Superman
I am so excited about Superboy. Finally someone is going to tackle the idea of a teenage super hero that wants to lead a normal life. We are blazing new territory here.
The sad thing is that I will still buy it![]()
Action Comics, Superman, Smallville S11#6 and Superboy are on my list for the Superman group.
A Comic book fan till I die.
Action Comics with art by Travel Foreman?, cool.
Supergirl with art by Sami Basri?, Supercool. It will bring me Power Girl memories.
Superman and Superboy look interesting too.
Comic Books are fun, Comic Book fans not so much.
As soon as I saw Sami Basri on Supergirl I also was reminded of Power Girl. Haven't really been following the book but maybe I'll give it a look just for nostalgia's sake.
Pretty much the only bad thing here is the Action cover (just Superman's face, the rest is good but the face ruins it). Solicits all sound really good. Judging by the arm the villain here is Doctor Xadu. We'll probably see how he comes to be all bandaged like he was in the interlude issues. Hope Krypto makes it through this and just has to be returned to the Zone or something.
The Superman solicit, to me, makes it sound like Lex is going to fake his death to make it look like Superman murdered him. At least that sounds like a Lex sort of thing to do.

I'll be checking out Action, Superman and Supergirl.
I have my doubts that they're talking about Lex Luthor in the Superman book -- I suspect it'll be a newish character he creates. Lobdell has been pretty good about that, re: creating new villains for his heroes.

I hear good things about Basri and it looks good but I hope he is just a fill-in, Asrar has been knocking it out on Supergirl. About to drop something off my pull and have been looking for a replacement, thinking hard about Lobdell's Superman.
