CBR has put together their Top 100 Comics of the Year list for 2012 and this masterpiece was ranked #68. Ridiculous!
Eventhough I haven't been able to read this comic yet, because I had no vacation time left and the gloom of monetary dippiness is upon us like an Armani suited alpha male crying and whining his silly guts out, on end, yet I feel most inclined to feel shock over this poor rating.
Poor rating, because I consider it no small feat to have this Hellboy title be about stomping cool uncompromizing pop culture so profoundly, yet with at the same time making it an intent to be like: quiet down and I might tell you a story, a story to knock your socks off or make you go whoa, in a way you might have never undergone before!
No small feat. In a major way.
Chillingly good stuff besides Mignola, Slint, M, Knut and really big chunks of tinfoil?Been called a 'good egg'. Been told to rock, been told to steady myself. Been told to (please) be goin' places.
Half sunk in the mud, with one eye showing / a cracked smile and hair still growing /
your hands miles apart, as if they'd never met / you were the happiest I'd seen you yet. ~ (full) lyrics to 'Exhume' by Bedhead.
True.
B.P.R.D. wasn't mentioned in the 100 to 25 lists, so it's got to show up in the top 24 at least or that would be an extreme oversight.
Your prediction was correct, BPRD is number 24 on the list
OH MY GOD !!!
I just read issue #2...Spectacular.Beautiful.Emotional.
Still not coming down from the high of issue one's awesomeness...issue two comes in and slowly unravels to uppercut the HELL outta you!
Mike once again proves to not only be one of this industry's legendary artists, but truly a craftsman.
I've always been an "art first" kind of comic book fan...only a few creators have turned me into a 'story first' comic fan.
Mignola is one of those talented artisans whose work is so compelling and page turning that i anxiously await the next thing.
The storytelling is great. The art, without saying is awe inspiring.
Complimented by Dave Stewart's emotional and skillful palette ...Issue Two of HELLBOY IN HELL is nothing short of genius!
I hate you so much right now, Gary. It's a kind and friendly hate, but hate none the less.

I hate me too,Mack
but hate me less on Weds when this masterpiece makes it way to your LCS
He is gdeo, *Hellmod*.
I'd believe such will grant privileges.
But as Mack said, in between the blowing kisses to his avatar it's sometimes hard to not end every kiss with a tiny fist-shake for then quickly blowing another.
