My guess is issue 2 will be Hellboy's past, issue 3 will be Hellboy's present, then the forth will have a glimpse of his future before wrapping up this little arc.

That would be my guess, though I figure the five rivers of Hades will also figure into the structure of the story as well. I don't think he threw in the reference to the river Lethe for no reason so I figure it and it's sister rivers will likely have some importance.

I was lucky enough to find the year of monsters cover in my local comic shop and I have to say, I loved this. Love that Mike is back to full form. Love how dark it was and loved the Christmas Carols involvement.

I was thinking the same, Junior- good eye. And The Third Wish is held in high esteem by me, so for me to compare any art from HIH to that story is high praise indeed.

If you're curious about the trade, Mike Mignola had this to say...

"I don't know when the collection is going to be published. The first 4 issues come out monthly but not sure when I'll be sitting down to do #5--The collection will be the first 5 issues and #5 is a one-issue story. I'm excited to the do the 5th issue but I have a bunch of things (some I've been putting off for a long time) to get out of the way first."

If Hellboy in Hell ends up being an eighties-style buddy action-adventure with Edward Grey, I'd be totally fine with that.

As it is, I found the first issue to be meandering and self-indulgent, but in a good way... I kinda love it when Mike Mignola indulges himself and makes weird little things ("The Hydra and the Lion" springs to mind, or Screw-On Head). That's what comics is all about.

Really nice design work by Cary Grazzini, too. The book doesn't look like anything else on the stands, and it doesn't look like just another Hellboy story, either.
