I hate to say it but I agree. I mean some of the impetus for movie related omni's has to be sales from the non standard comic reading crowd. Yeah I've heard the argument that non comic fans aren't going to plonk down that much for a comic book but why else would they link them so strongly with an average of 3 omnis a film?
By the time we get Day's of Future Past, unless they have reprinted vol 1, I can't see fans hot out of the movie paying that much (yes disputing my previous argument somewhat, or am I?) for a volume 2 that volume 1 is so out of print and so expensive.
I think it's more likely they'll release an omni, back tracking to the start of Dark Phoenix, and leaving off the volume numbering entirely.
I want to tell you all a little story about an Amazon seller named Daily Deal USA.
Like many of you I'm sure, I check various OOP books on amazon/half/ebay etc fairly regularly. For shits and giggles, I check the Ennis Punisher Omnibus on amazon. A few days ago on Saturday, I was eating breakfast before work and decided to check my list. I almost choked when I saw the prices for the Punisher book(you guys can check camelcamelcamel or some other tracker to verify), but there were a few listings, one was new for 65 or something, then 3 used for 24, 26, and 62 all from the same seller. Well, I bought all 4 listings up, figuring one of them had to turn out to be real. Got a shipping notice Sunday evening for 3 of them, but then a few hours later got a notice that my orders were being refunded. Sometime Monday the 4th order was canceled. Of course, I complained to the seller and to amazon. The seller gave me a complete bullshit excuse that a postal worker said there was sever damage to the spine and the post office threw them out(which would not happen). They've yet to reply to any of my 3 emails, or the email that amazon had sent them. But I'm not done complaining, I'm going to keep pushing amazon to see if anything will happen.
Just just a heads up from this seller, don't bet on actually getting your item from them(you can look at their feedback, it happens often)
But on the bright side, I didn't lose any money

My review of Absolute Dark Victory
If I were a MOD I would ban anyone who uses the stupid word "omniboo."
I know everyone thinks of a release of Uncanny X-Men volume 2 when the next X-movie comes out but I wonder if we might actually see an Ultimate X-Men omnibus. Fox has Mark Millar working for them and he did write at least the first 25 issues or so, plus an Ultimate mini. I'd hate to see this, but I do wonder the odds of this happening, as it's an easy jumping-on point if they do decide to omnibus the entire run.
Today, I make no demands... no threats! But, one day, I shall voice demands -- and all shall obey them!
That is a terrific point. I'm always grasping for 616-Marvel straws when it comes to X-movie Omnis, but they have a huge store of relatively acclaimed Ultimate X-Men to draw from.
Thanks! I think my excuse for not linking it elsewhere was that it was still sort of in "private beta" with the thread folks to work out the kinks, but once I make the corrections people listed far above here I think it's ready to go!

LOL. This thread seems to be going through the Seven Stages of Omnibus Grief right now.
From "What will be solicited next?" to "Why the hell does Marvel not publish more Omnis, especially UXM 2, dammit?" to "I'm sure there won't be an UXM 2 anymore."
Ugh, no Ultimate X-Men Omnibus, please.
You can get hardcovers #1-3 (issues #1-33 and bonus stuff) on Amazon for a combined $30 shipped right now. I'd hate to see stuff that's already in OHC form get reproduced and take something else's spot.
They link them becaus it's the best possible opportunity to do so, even if it probably doesn't matter. This is the word straight from the guys in charge, the movie releases (or other big events) are the only time they can justify bringing Cory and his crew in to further restore the material. Is it a stupid justification? Of course it is, but it is still the justification Marvel uses and it will continue to apply in the future.
It clearly doesn't matter to Marvel when the last book came out or how rare it is. Remember, ASM Vol 2 came out five years after Vol 1 and three years after it was reprinted. UXM was reprinted the same year ASM was. It's true that UXM Vol 2 picks up midway through a story (a misfortune I don't think is shared by any other book), but I can't see Marvel caring about such matters. I mean, from their perspective anyone who wants this book has already read Vol 1.
But this is the bottom line: Since the omnibus line has started there hasn't been a single movie to come out that didn't have a tie-in omnibus if there was suitable material already in the Masterworks format. The closest they've come to that is the release of First Class, which had The X-Men Vol 2 instead and didn't have a second book like Rise of the Silver Surfer did (that is the only movie so far to have two Silver Age omnibus tie-ins). They've released fourteen volumes for thirteen movies. Do you really think they're going to stop that now? There is a huge precedent here. Clearly they believe their strategy to be working, otherwise they'd have stopped.
I think Marvel's long delay in releasing Vol 2 has led some you to believe they have some sort of nefarious agenda to avoid releasing the book at all costs, when really it's just been a matter of poor timing.
Edit: Oh, and yes on Ultimate X-Men!
