    Default Rank the 4 Super-titles

I'm a former Marvel zombie and newbie to the DCU, so to get caught up I embarked on a quest to read all the volume 1 graphic novels of the new 52. So far I'm at 21 with Superboy scheduled to be my 22. I've only read Supergirl, but I'm interested in seeing the opinions for these titles since this is the one area of the universe I still haven't really embarked on. I thought Supergirl was good with a story they could build on, but the pacing was a little slow and many of the many panels were large and wide as to showcase the artwork which kind of minimized the amount of story told per issue. Overall, I'd give it about 6.5/10.

So as of right now, how would you all rank Action Comics, Superman, Superboy, and Supergirl?

    Action Comics
    Supergirl
    Superboy
    Superman

Action Comics and Supergirl are just fantastic all-around. A hiccup here and there, as nothing's perfect, but they're top notch. Superboy started out great but has lost a lot of traction due to the Culling event. And with Scott Lobdell leaving in September, who knows what will happen from there. As for Superman, its unfortunately been a mess of indecision, and has at times felt more like a throw back as opossed to a new take. Three creative teams over one year should say it all. I'm hopeful however that with Lobdell coming on board in September, the title will get a much needed dose of direction, and a more modern feel.

wasn't this same thread just up like a month ago? Oh well.

    AC
    Supergirl
Superboy (at least the first 7 issues I read)
    Superman
Comics were happier before the Internet turned writing superhero stories into fruitless attempts to impress/entertain a small group of ppl who appear to hate comics and their creators.
    Grant Morrison

    As always, its my opinion:

    1. Supergirl-most cohesive and interesting series of the bunch. At least three cool new villains and a nice revamp of an older one. Kara still only speaks Kryptonian....cool touch.
    2. Superman-Even with the constant talent changes we still got three complete stories, and one interesting villain so far in Anguish.
    3. Action-lots of neat ideas....I sure would like to see them bundled together into a chohesive story.
    4. Superboy-The crossover with the Culling derailed this title for me. There was an interesting dynamic between Rose Wilson/Superboy/Katlain Faichild but its lost now. I am waiting to see how the next story arc turns out.

All four books are better than anything during the Grounded/Action:Luthor days as far as I am concerned. And I am starting to place them higher than the New Krypton saga...

Action Comics - clearly the best. Even the weaker issues of this (and there have been a few too many weak issues, by Morrison standards...) are chock full of ideas and concepts that help this title tower over the rest. Needs a new artist BAD. Rags is not worth the fill-in mess.

Supergirl - very nice art, story execution is too cliched and I don't think the villains are that interesting. Solid book though if your expectations are not that high.

Superboy - I really like the art but I have never liked Conner and don't like him here. Writing is okay but nothing special.

Superman - creatively a mess, tone and execution wise it's very dated and does not feel "New 52" at all. Can't wait for Rocafort and Lobdell, I expect an enormous improvement there and finally some creative consistency.

    Action >>>> Supergirl >>>>>>>>SUperboy</>/= Superman.

Action is great. THe only ones hating it are way too fixed in preFlashpointman though Action Superman is slowly evolving to that, most don't want to see the transition.
    Supergirl is good.
Superboy was okay before the culling. Culling was stupidly boring. Superman is the waste of pages.
    Rehire Grant Morrison for Superman.
    Give Lois her own BOOKS.
Keep Scott Lobdell in Superverse forever.

I haven't read Supergirl or Superboy.

I only lasted 1 issue of Superman. That issue was way too dense, and I found myself struggling to finish it.

I dropped Action after 8. It's too in cohesive, confusing, not too interesting.

    So I guess:

    Action: 6/10
    Superman: 4/10
Avengers, Daredevil, Fantastic Four, FF, Hawkeye, New Avengers
Animal Man, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Justice League
    Saga, Thief of Thieves.

Supergirl - By far the most consistent of the titles with generally all around solid-good writing. It just moves way too slow. I actually rank it about even with Superboy.
Superboy - It had a derailment or two, but I think its highs are higher than the other books generally with them mostly outweighing the lows. I also find character to be the more interestign among the leads in the Superman Family right now.
Superman - I actually dug the Perez issues despite some flaws in the last few issues of his run. Jurgens current run is decent though a bit forgettable.
Action Comics - This honestly didn't start doing much for me until issue 9 focusing on the Earth 23 Superman. Before then I wasn't really feeling the story and thought the writing was incoherent. I think Morrison is doing a better job now though I'm still not in love with the book like others are.

    Action Comics
    Supergirl
Justice League (couldn't resist; I feel it's a Superman title)
    Superman
    Superboy

I think it's time for another title

Only read 3 of them so far, but here we go, in order:
-Action Comics: this book is talking to the 10 year old kid hidden inside of me. The whole thing is epic, crazy, with a lot of stuff happening to keep you on board. It's inventive, it's insane, and I'm pretty sure that, had I met this young Superman when I was ten, I wouldn't have thought him to be lame (yeah, I got better since, but I had issues with Superman as a kid), without his basic qualities being forgotten in the first place. it's the passage from the Golden Age to the Silver Age and goddamit this is awesome. Now, one has to be prepared for one shots inside the main "storyline" (there have been 3 issues like that). The position of issues 5 and 6 is a bit weird (but not random,as some would want you to believe), and 9 is an alternate universe thing, but these stories in themselves are just as awesome than the rest (especially issue 9). Definitively worth checking.

-Supergirl: Bought all the issues yesterday. Very nice. Nothing incredible, but very nice. Supergirl is relatable, her discovery of earth is interesting enough, and the threats are threatening enough. Now, i don't really buy the "maybe stronger than Superman" thing, although it's not really a problem within the book itself, and the pace could be argued as slow, but it is an interesting read overall. Very pop corn.

-Superman: the hard one. How do I feel about it? Well, the first six issues had potential, at least in the "Daily Planet bought by Galaxy" subplot, but that doesn't go anywhere. What we're left with is a decent world building, but an uninteresting main threat mixed with a Superman whose entire actions may have been due to aliens. Disapointing.
Issues 7 to 9 were an improvement, making the book go to "decent". The book was alright, an editorially done fight with Hellspont that was basic, good humour, and decent enough Clark Kent moments. Then came issue 10, who was written by only one of the two writers (and the one who didn't do the actual writing before) and god, this was bad. All the qualities of the book suddenly disapeared, leaving only the glaring flaws: a weakling and stupid Superman (my 10 years old self would have just destroyed the guy), an idiotic villain (who, granted, was introduced in 9, but we barely saw her), a plot that was going litteraly nowhere, and the subtility of a drunk elephant.
Honestly, I'd say wait until issue 12, then give it a try. I still haven't decided if I was going to buy the two following issues until then.

Action - Can't really say anything that has not been said. Except maybe I'm diggin the different colored t-shirts.
Supergirl - Most surprising title for me. Good comic entertainment month in and month out. The writers have a great handle on the character and the art is usually on point.
Superboy - Only read the first few issues but thought it was good.
Superman - Have not read a single issue but thinking about checking it out once Lobdell takes over.

First there is Action, then there is the other three that I try to find excuses for reading.
