    ...huh.
There stopped being a need for batman for 8 years? So crime just stopped?
    That's impressive.
And i guess that means they took an almost decade break from the end of the last movies "We have to arrest batman!" thing.

Yeap, it all happened because of the "Harvey Dent Act", which made it easier to stop organized crime.

If Batman disappears, it's kind of hard to arrest him. I'm sure there is still a search on, but I also don't think Gordon is trying to hard since he knows that Batman is innocent. He probably made it appear that he was trying to find Batman, without really trying. Just a guess.

I, personally, disagree with this because it really is a comic book movie, but I am guessing that Nolan wanted to go the route of "in real life you wouldn't have one super villain after another", so made it 8 years later to make it seem like Gotham isn't overrun with super villains.

Does anyone else think it's a little ironic that the movie is called The Dark Knight Rises and the tag line is "The Legend Ends"?

They all but say it at the end of The Dark Knight when Gordon warns Batman that "they'll hunt you" and Batman corrects him "you'll hunt me."

I forgot about that. I guess the death of Dent and the Harvey Dent Act have allowed Gotham to clean up its streets and Gordan help clean up the dirty cops between TDK and DKR.

they probably shouldn't have left that as the hook for the sequel then.

It's better than the "In Bay we Trust" that Bay fans believe.

I can't disagree. I am sure it will still have some bearing, but I was surprised when I heard the movie took place 8 years later.

I'm glad. Didn't really care to see a film about Batman vs the police. We got that in Begins. We didn't need it agian. The more important point was that Batman genuinly wanted Gotham to be better so bad that he was willing to sacrafice his repuation and be hunted so that people could still believe in Harvey Dent in a way they could never believe in Batman. It wasn't a hook it was a motive. The reason for the 8 year gap is to show the effects of that sacrafice actually bearing fruit.
