I'm relieved-- for a second i thought this was one of those Ginger/Mary Ann questions.
"It's just lines on paper, folks!"
what is the question?
I'm getting both, because I enjoy both the Gottfredson Mickey and Barks Ducks.
I found that as I read Walt Disney Comics, that the stuff I liked the most were Barks Ducks stories (especially the longer Scrooge and Donald adventure stories) and the Gottfredson Mikey adventure stories (which were originally daily or sunday comic strips).
I already have both. They're all very nice, but if you're trying to decide between them, you may want to know that the Mickey's are in b&w (because that's the format in which they originally appeared) and the ducks are in color (ditto).
emb021, these are the daily Mickey's (which are adventure strips). I believe the Sundays were typically gag strips and were not connected to the dailies.

Here are some examples of reprints of adventurous Mickey Mouse Sundays by Gottfredson:
Gladstone Comic Album #3: The Liar of Wolf Baker: Mickey Mouse Sunday 1933.01.29 - 1933.06.18 http://www.comics.org/issue/44024/
Gladstone Comic Album #8 :Hoppy the Kangaroo: Mickey Mouse Sunday 1935.07.28 - 1935.11.24 http://www.comics.org/issue/44766/
Gladstone Comic Album #22: Sheriff of Nugget Gulch: Mickey Mouse Sunday 1937.05.16 - 1937.10.24 http://www.comics.org/issue/47413/
Walt Disney's Best Comics (Abbeville) #1: Mickey Mouse meets Robin Hood: Mickey Mouse Sunday 1936.04.26 - 1936.10.04 http://www.comics.org/issue/34724/
Volume 3, in the intro to the "Bat Bandit" sequence, noted that while the Sunday was mainly gag strips, they DID run adventure stories. They weren't connected to the dailies, EXCEPT, that the "Bat Bandit" sequence made hints to a previous Sunday adventure story set in the West.
Out of the two, Donald is who I find to be more interesting as a character. The reason being is that Mickey is a boring "every-mouse" character and his mood is always predictably even. Donald, on the other hand is volatile and extremely emotional. He's also confrontational which is highly unusual for a classic Disney character.
It all depends on who is doing the character.
When it comes to Mickey Mouse, I much prefer the Gottfredson adventurous character, rather then the "boring 'evermouse' character" we too often get. If the take is more akin to Gotfredson, I much prefer that.
When it comes to Donald Duck, I much prefer the Barks adventurous character (tho he can be emotional at times). I include the Barks-inspired work of Don Rosa as well.
