I'm neither ok with it or against it. It was a story telling decision and a sci-fi element. It certainly isn't dumb and it actually brings an interesting display of strenght: Superman has potential to rip reality apart with his own strength. I allways felt the hate towards this simple story decision was more because people disliked Superboy Prime than the thing itself.

I felt it was very off-the-wall (pun intended) in a very Silver Ageish way, which is apropos. Superboy Prime is arguably an artifact of the Silver Age (not literally, because he was created a few months before COIE, which was the end of the *Bronze* Age), but the character had symbolized the Silver Age (e.g. Superboy), with his Earth-Prime origin being the reason that he and only he (Kal-L punched the wall too, but could only physically shatter it, not alter time/reality with his punches) could cause time disruptions.

Many people don't like the Superboy Prime Retcon Punch, which is fine, but its origins are far from baseless; it's deeply rooted in Silver Age zaniness, and the whole point of INFINITE CRISIS seemed to be to what happens to Golden and Silver Age values when they've been through the prism of Modern Age sensibilities.

Winnick went on record saying that he did not care why Jason returned, only that he returned at all.

He was more interested in the implications of Jason's return, and that's certainly more interesting.

Nah it's not really that hard to explain why he's back, especially with the Lazarus pit, which they've now switched to.

It was a mandate at the time to tie everything into Countdown to Infinite Crisis, hence Superboy Prime.

But . . . have they ever explained how Jason was buried in a cemetary with a nice suit and all, but didn't have his body filled with embalming fluid or anything that may have made his sudenly "waking up" in the coffin less . . . feasible? (Or do they pretend that a dip in the Lazarus pit neutralizes embalming fluid . . . and when did they get the body to a Lazarus pit before the burial? Was Batman that lax in overseeing the care of Jason's body after he first found the (supposedly) dead and lifeless corpse of someone who was like a son to him?)

I think that may have been a pre-New 52 problem that just got carried over.

Saw this article about DC's sales after the 52. Made we wonder, if sales were to continue trending downward, what would DC do? Whether the storm or find a way to revert back to the old status quo? Anyone have any thoughts?

I thought the Lazarus Pit (sans Superboy-Prime punch) was retconned as the sole explanation for Jason coming back to life in the new 52. I think it was in Red Hood and the Outlaws #0.

They will probably resort to the Marvel model of Event after Event and continuous number #1 issues. Reverting holds no promise of returning readers to the fold and would cause a loss of any new or lapsed readers they gained.

I think we'd see a return of some aspects of the Old DCU, but not for everything.

From the design standpoint, there are 3 characters that we already know are returning to their Old DCU costumes, soon. Basically what isn't working/selling, could and should be changed, at any time.
