Default (The Amazing Spider-Man) Extended Cut - SEND AN EMAIL TO SONY RIGHT NOW!

I'm so angry right now because this movie is a ripoff (I'm talking about the theatrical version).

I don't care if the Extended Cut is not attached to the first DVD/blu-ray that comes out, as long as we get the Extended Cut anyway.

Whatever happaned to the footage from the trailers showing Peter putting on a white-labcoat and getting ready to "play god" with Dr. Connors?
Why would they cut that out when it was clearly meant to establish the growing chemistry between the characters?

Or what about the whole arc involving Connors feeling the need to turn against Peter personally: "If you want the truth, come and get it!". I was waiting for that dynamic to start in the movie, but it never came. Ripoff!

Plus, the only comic-relief I remember from the movie were the physical gags when Peter was alone...Again, the trailers implied that there was going to be comic-relief that came from character-interaction (for example: Peter and Gwen poking fun at the fact that he's a wanted man, which would've been showing that Peter and Gwen were comfortable in their closure, while still knowing his secret) but that part never happened. Ripoff!

No wonder this movie only has low 70s on Rottentomatoes. The trailers promised us an internally/emotionally epic storyline about Peter and the mystery of his parents, plus an actual dymanic relationship between Peter and Connors...and we got NONE of that from the Theatrical version. Just because we see Peter kind-of "accidentally" looking into the story about his parents, doesn't change the fact that it's not shown in the way the trailers made us think it would.

Something needs to be done. Send an Email to Sony and demand the Extended Cut. I'm not going to buy the "theatrical-only" version because it's NOT the version the trailers promised us. Demand the Extended Cut so that we can finally see the version that would've gotten high 80s (or even low 90s) on Rottentomatoes.

Scenes get cut from the final versions of movies all the time. This is nothing new. There was still plenty of significant interaction between Peter/Gwen and Peter/Connors... I don't know how the few moments you mentioned would have drastically made those dynamics much better. They wouldn't have shown or told us anything new that isn't at least subtext in the final cut.

As for the parents subplot, Webb made it clear that it wasn't something that was going to be resolved in this film, but gradually would be throughout the trilogy. It's like complaining that you don't know who Darth Vader is in A New Hope.

It would have been nice if the price of a ticket included a back rub, a beer, and a side of bacon. I love all of those things. Could you please include that in your e-mail to Sony?

It's not clear that making the film longer would make it better.

Usually, scenes are cut for a reason. It could slow the narrative, be redundant, contradict something, etc.

There's a good chance we'll see the material eventually on the Blu-Ray. But it seems kinda silly to demand it.

As it stood, I felt like the movie was at least a half hour too long.

While an individual scene may have been good, that doesn't mean it would have fit in well to the narrative with the other scenes used in the movie.

STOP THE DAMN PRESSES! This must be the first time in like EVER that trailer scene did not make the final cut.

If anybody is wondering what exactly was cut, check this article out.

    http://badassdigest.com/2012/07/05/w...ng-spider-man/

Mostly guesswork and good ole trailer frame by frameness (and I think a bit of spin, to be honest) but it looks like they basically cut the "untold story" out of it. Which is fine, it seems like the stuff that was cut was mostly just "Parker bit by spider not accident but triggers something" ala Hulk which seems okay to leave out. The hell of it is, the movie is pushing 2 hrs and 20 min, so how long was the first assembly cut? 3 friggin hours?!

Not really, since all you need to know about Darth Vader in A New Hope is explained. Jedi who turned to the dark side, was a purpil of Obi Wan, now serves the empire. They don't hint that he's luke and leia's father so why would they tell you in A New Hope (Asides from the fact A New Hope was only meant to be one film)

I'd rather demand that Sony find a way to erase Sam Raimi's trilogy from everyone's memories. It's for the greater good, dammit!

I thought the only thing missing was the movie doesn't make it too clear his brain has been affected and thats why he turned all bad guy. A few people in the theater I was in didn't get why the lizard saved him at the end.
