Looking for "secondary" story in a 1960s/1970s comic book

I'm looking for a comic book I read in the laet 1960s/early 1970s. Cannot remember the cover story but there was a second story about a young man in a town where everything went wrong for him. His inventions didn't work, the woman he loved married someone else.

He created a time machine which sent him to an alternative world where everything he tried was successful. He married the woman he loved and as he kissed her, the time machine, back in the other world, exploded and left him happy in his new life.

I'd like to get a copy of this - sound familiar to anyone?

No idea what company it might have been? Charlton, DC and Marvel were all doing this kind of thing by the early 70s. My first thought was that it could have been in a DC book like House of Mystery. And if it came out in the late 6os'/ early 70s, it may well have been a reprint from the 50s.

I'd start by checking the GCD.
