I REALLY hope these annuals end up actually being annuals, and don't just get released sporadically or constantly go back to #1.

Not thrilled, but not nihilistic about it, myself.

So far his work has been largely unoffensive but simultaneously unimpressive. I'm willing to give it a shot, but I don't have high hopes.

I couldn't care less about Action Comics, the Batgirl and Swamp Thing annuals sound interesting, but I'm unspeakably excited for that Justice League Dark Annual. That book has done a great job of increasingly catching my interest. First I was mildly interested, then I heard about the crossover with I, Vampire, and now it sounds like it's being built up as the central book of The Dark group, effectively living up to its name.

I don't mind the back-ups being unimpressive, and I think it seems to serve the purpose, but writing a full issue changes my expectations, which I don't have hopes of this issue reaching.

I believe that guy is a new character created by Lemire to be Constantine's main nemesis.

He has a suit, a cape (or looks kinda like that), wearing a bowtie... That looks almost exactly like Zatanna's dad. I'm assuming he is brought back to life using the books of magic, which appear to floating around him. They also made mention to his effects being in the black room (which may or may not be the truth after the last issue). Also, in the Zatanna solo series from before, there was a backup story about how the items of a magician holding their spirit after they die, and Zatanna had to stop a magic ghost. Though in that regard it could also be her cousin Zach, though he wasn't a very powerful magician. Those would also appear to make sense to the fact that Zatanna is the only conscious person in that scene...
