It's funny that no one's even considered the possibility that ASM keeps its original numbering and they roll out a new Spidey title!
Yes! No way they mess with this title!
No---a new #1 is inevitable

I want to know what Dan Slott thinks.
McKenstry those with the most opinions often have the fewest facts.
Barack Obama There's not a liberal America and a conservative America - there's the United States of America.
Christopher Yost Cyclops = Awesome and Right, while Xavier = USELESS JERK-O! Viva la Cyclops!
Facts are the enemy of truth.
You gonna get us out of here. With that tight-ass Wolverine outfit on. Now, let's make it happen, asshole
YOST: Okay, it's not Jean Grey. Nobody likes her
I don't see a real reason to renumber it...I mean 700 isn't a major milestone or anything. If they do renumber it, it'll be for a little while and then they'll change it back before the next big event.
When most comics are lucky to get out of the single digits before their runs are cancelled, #700 is absolutely a milestone.
As for an all-but-certain confirmation that ASM will go to a new #1 after #700, from this week's Axel-In-Charge:
You've mentioned so many new creative teams on the titles. Can you think of any books that will be sticking with the current creators through the Marvel NOW process?
Alonso: The majority of core titles are involved in this shift, but there is one big title -- and I won't what it is -- that will remain with the current creative team because their plans for the immediate future include a massive story hook that legitimizes it being a Marvel NOW! title, without the creative change.
Sounds like he's talking about Spidey to me. The good news, of course, is that it sounds like Slott isn't going anywhere.
I think that Galina Tsarfin would have made for an interesting sidekick as the new Spider-Girl alongside Spider-Man x Black Widow respectively.
Here is her info:

If successful bio-engineered clones like X-23 and Lyra can make the jump into the mainstream MU, why can't Galina?
There will be an Amazing Spider-Man #701. The question is if it is the month after #700, or years down the road when a "back to basics" marketing campaign restores the original numbering comes about . . .![]()

I voted for renumbering it, and cause my guesses are almost always wrong then my choice and expectation will probably turn to be wrong

I hope there will be.
I don't like renumberings.
The lack of originality will always bother me
