Quite frankly, Bane vs. Superman would be more interesting, especially if it's the Superman with the Action Comics power-level. (Or if it has to be set in the present, maybe have Bane find a way to reduce Superman's power back to that level.)

Bane was originally conceived as an "evil Doc Savage," so he was partially based on one of the characters Superman was based on. And since Bane's main attribute has always been his ability to find out ways to beat opponents (rather than pure brute force), he could apply that to Superman as well.

Perhaps Bane could create a false identity for himself in Metropolis and become a public adventurer (ala Doc Savage). He could act as an ally to Superman at first, gaining his trust, and then striking at Superman when he was at his weakest, just like he did with Batman.
Only you can set you free.

Bane as he first showed up in Vengence of Bane and Bane as he appeared in Secret Six are very easily the same character. The deviations come from some of the weird stories that happened in between, such as Loeb's use of Bane in Batman/Superman.

It's not that they're different characters, but to me the character was more appealing when he's vicious and cunning. No anti-hero BS.
