    Daniel Mengsk attributes:

I'm sorry 'dox, but my absolutism stands, I've had some personal experiences with this stuff and a guy I loved very much and still love despite a lot of stuff happening between us, was the victim of abuse and it scared him something incredibly when growing up, it was hard knowing that.
As mentioned, (and I know you disagree) a tap on the butt isn't child abuse. It's nothing that's going to give someone nightmares or affect you later in life. Spanking certainly CAN be abusive, but that's people doing it wrong. And, as I mentioned earlier, it's something for little kids who can't communicate or be communicated well with. It's the equivalent of slapping a child's hand when they're reaching for the lit burner on the stove. Or would that be "abuse" in Sweden, too?

A slap on the hand or a 'tap on the arse' falls into the description of 'corporal punishment' here in Sweden and all forms of corporal punishments are forbidden by law, both at home and at school. I think that Sweden is just one of thirty-something countries in the world that has made it illegal to use corporal punishment in the school as well as in a domestic environment.

See, that's just overkill and, at least IMHO, does absolutely nothing to combat actual child abuse.

What can I say, Swedish mentality and all of that and the law is rather new. According to wiki "in Sweden, before the 1979 ban, more than half of the population considered corporal punishment a necessary part of child rearing. By 1996 the rate was 11%, and less than 34% considered it acceptable in a national survey."

Anyhow, according to somebody called Kid Omega, you are never correct about anything 'dox so... ;) hehe

I'm not quite so sure what people's opinions on the necessity of it has to do with it. It looks more like people grew up with it labeled "unacceptable" and went along. Has it combated any actual child abuse?

Hmmm...seems to be a lot of conflicting reporting on the subject. This one made the most sense to me, but it basically says "there's not really solid data either way."

That isn't what "not spanking" causes. That's caused by no discipline at all (with a side of "teens are brain damaged") and a person in authority who is obviously incapable of exercising it.

You'll always get kids, well, teens like that. Sometimes kids are fuckers because they are rebelling against strict discipline. Sometimes kids are fuckers because they haven't had any real discipline and have been allowed to run riot by their parents.
