I appreciated this issue for what it is: a setup issue.
It did have some great character building and a behind-the-curtain type view on the X-Men
I expected the bad explanation for the whole Cyttorak thing. As well as the continued regressed portray of cyttorak. But what I didn't expect was the Cain bashing.
When a writer gives a big ole middle finger like that it's pretty easy to spot a pet character. Just because not everyone sees the brilliance of the Peternaut I guess.
You're perfect, yes, it's true
But without me you're only you
Your menstruating heart
It ain't big enough for two
I was hoping for more of Sinister London, really. The Cyttorak/Colossus scene was nice. Maybe it was seeing all Sinister has lying in wait last issue, and seeing some of the fight between the P5 and Sinister London in previews that dulled this a bit. It's really a prelude to the good stuff still coming.

They've been slowly showing us the Phoenix Five losing their tempers and losing their humanity. Anyone else think Sinister is going to send his clones out to the slaughter to reduce their humanity further? No doubt Magik or Cyclops is going to see the pile of bodies are realize what they are capable of and be very very upset.

Slaymaster is dead and Psylocke killed the last supped up alternate version of him..... Try again....
Gilles is amazing. His Psylocke is almost on par with UXF Remenders version. The tension he is creating I can see coming to a head soon. I have a feeling the Extinction team will revolt while the P5 battle Sinister. Perfect moment for him to escape as the P5 deal with their own.....
The reasoning behind Cyttorak keeping Collosus as his avatar was brilliant. I was wonder if something would come up, considering the last avatars similar betrayal......
W(ho)TF is Gilles?

I loved the Cyttorak scene and the overall set up for the next few issues. Overall the art was great, except for Cyclops. His visor just looked HUGE.

I enjoyed the issue. My favorite part was Colossus trying to convince Cyttorak to leave him. I'm happy he didn't so Colossus can stay the Juggernaut after this whole AvX fiasco ends. I'm excited to see what Sinister has in store for the Phoenix Five, so far Uncanny has been the only AvX related book I've enjoyed.
Short of MAYBE Warren, I don't think there's a single X-Men character who gets the shaft as consistently as Colossus. It's pretty much been one big "eff you, Piotr" from the X-Writing Staff since Jim Lee got his hooks in him. Since the introduction of Mikhail alone:
Long believed dead brother comes back from the dead.
Said brother goes nuts and (To his knowledge) kills himself.
Parents are killed by the Russian government.
Sister dies of the legacy virus.
Starts hanging out with the Acolytes until they all get killed.
Things got pretty level for a while, then comes his death/resurrection:
Comes back after years of torture.
Girlfriend gets lost in space.
Sister comes back from the dead, but she's pretty severely demon queen at this point.
Forced to take on Juggernaut curse to save San Francisco.
It really sucks to be Colossus.
