"unconscious corpse of Marilyn Monroe" I didn't know there was such a thing as an 'unconscious' corpse.
Jean Grey : What makes you such a bitch, Emma?
Emma Frost : Breeding, darling. Top class breeding.
I hope the fact that Aegis gave this a 4 and Gael gave it a 3 has been noted by folks who say all the mods hate the way the book is written.![]()
Irene Adler: “I would have you right here on this desk until you begged for mercy twice.”
Sherlock: “I’ve never begged for mercy in my life.”
Irene: “Twice.”
Perhaps, because I usually take care of posting the proof on the page itself whenever I say that. You can try and make a fanciful explanation of what you're seeing, but there it is. The object he's tossing is a baseball signed by DiMaggio, by the way. I don't think I'm alone in finding it disgusting.
This man should not be writing Wonder Woman.

You got me there.
Compared to the other writers on the new 52, he's good; that's the way the question is worded, and that's why I gave him 4. His work on this series has been my least favorite of things that he has written that I've read, but he's still a good writer.
If I had said "Never again," after Cry for Justice, I wouldn't be reading Shade, which I think is the best thing DC is putting out right now. I didn't like Gail Simone on Firestorm. Doesn't mean that Batgirl can't possibly be good. Azzarello has made some major errors with Wonder Woman, but that doesn't mean he's still not a good writer. He just screwed up -- and it's not impossible for him to fix, either.
Some days a girl wants to ride ponies. Some days a girl wants to punch tanks. Today ... is a tank day.
I do like the first 6 issues i have read but i think my main problem is that azzarello hasnt really fixed the problem of having making the amazans likeable or interesting people that were lacking in previous incarnations. He just traded one extreme interpretation for another.
I do find making WW to be zeus's daughter to be uninspired but im digging his take on the gods.
im interested in seeing how he would handle any of WW's other supporting characters or enemies.
The man behind the story from what I've seen is.. well not a person I'd expect to write wonder Woman.
But the story he writes is intersting and filled to the brim with brilliant chracterization, and yes I'm includind wonder woman herself, not just the gods.
Wonder Woman is still her noble , truth seeking, and loving self. All thats changed is how she was born and the fact that she has a bit more of a taste for combat, even going as far as to not fly even though she could for the challenge it brings. (Azz has said she can fly but chooses not to)
When it comes to her character I trust Azz not to do anything wrong. In fact the character ization is so strong it carries the entire title. The only thing I think is a legitimate complaint is his new take on the Amazons. It is a staunch change from the pure soceity that once reigned over Themyscira, so distaste for that is under standable. (also because of the rapes they commit, the ones they commit every generation... yeah even if its a part of the original lore its pretty messed up)
Theres also the fact that we little in the way of setup for WW's current state of affairs. How did she leve the island. Whats she doing in london? What is her role in the world besides being a super hero?
But yeah, compared to the other titles this one has been great, even though it isn't perfect (hardly any book is)
Steve Rogers: You ready to follow Captain America into the jaws of death?
James Barnes: Hell, no! The little guy from Brooklyn who was too dumb not to run away from a fight. I'm following him."
Y'all have gotta be kidding me? Azzarello had Marilyn's corpse raped by the Comedian? For serious? I saw the page link so it must be true. He's systematically defiling my favorite heroine and deceased classic movie star in the same year, words can not express how this makes me feel. Yeah they can, but I'd probably get banned for typing them. This is what it's come down to? This is what's lauded and called superior writing? Really? My grandmother had an expression she'd say when she saw something particularly egregious that became commonplace, and it's appropriate here..."I never thought I'd see this day, and I've lived too long".
I have loved WW so far Azzarello has made me love this comic and my wallet hates him for it.
'The marquis. Well, you know, to be honest, he seems a little bit dodgy to me.'
'Mm,' she agreed. 'He's a little bit dodgy in the same way that rats are a little bit covered in fur."
5 stars.
Now excuse me, I'm going to quietly chuckle for an hour at all the obviosly fake moralism that pervades this thread.
