is Duane Swierczynski DC exclusive? As far as I know, he's only writing Birds of Prey for them (which is actually quite lovely, easily one of the better reboots), so I'd like to think he's free to bop on over to Marvel and write Cable again. Quite frankly, I never really cared for the character of Cable, but Mike Carey started to turn the tide on that opinion and Duane completely reversed it. Cable's last solo series was so good that I even gave Jeph Loeb the benefit of the doubt and picked up X-Sanction (which was actually fairly entertaining, IMO)!

I'll be very curious to see what role he plays in AvX and beyond...though him having an eye patch and bionic arm may come off as Marvel just trying to tough up a tough guy even more, we'll see!

Kind of makes my head hurt, so I just roll with it and accept that Hope was always a part of his mission now, regardless of how that happened.
After AOA was prevented, Legion should have ceased to exist (His mom citing feeling a unexplainable maternal loss), but they brought him back anyway, so anything's possible. It's not so terrible a retcon but I can see why it's agitating to longtime readers particularly if they never took a shine to Hope.

Did you ever try some of the Cable runs in the 90s?

no, my only real exposure to Cable came from X-Force.

Yeah. Lucky for me I like Hope and the father-daughter relationship she has with Cable, so I don't mind the retcon...

I agree with all of this. I want a Cable led Xforce group with at least Domino and Deadpool on the team. The Hope retcon is fine, cause Hope is a great character, and her interaction with Nathan in thier 17 years together made for a facinating read.

I straight up would like to see a Summers family reunion, where Cable, Hope, Nate Grey and Rachel all tried to sit down and have a normal meal but find themselves going off into strange subject matter, and internal telepathic side arguments.

I do think it is a shame that Alonso while a fan of Cable, only likes the version that has no powers and rocks the cyborg with big gun look. I am more partial to the Cable that still uses a gun but also his powers, but isn't soley about 'the mission'.

I loved the old X-Force Cable, but I also like the slightly toned down version as well. The one from Jeph loeb's run. He used his guns and his powers equally.

This, a post AvX shakeup in which Cable retakes control of the modern X Force would be very interesting.
