Post-AvX Cable speculation

I'm not a huge Cable fan, but I've been interested in where the character would end up after X-Sanction. Last we saw him he was cured of his T-O virus. But on the promo image he is shown with an eyepatch and his metallic arm.

The virus was cured, but its debatable where his power levels were at that time. Before Xsanction he was depowered to a great degree, and now he lies in a healing coma with no traces of the virus in his system. So when he wakes up he could either be ultra powered or severlely weakened, or even have no powers left. The eyepatch covers what was scar tissue around his eye from the virus, but since his other eye doesnt have the tk glow he may just be a soldier with limited tk ability.

Depending on who is writing this I will probably pick it up, particularly as several other titles I collect are being cancelled. I've always like Cable and have been waiting to see what happens to him without the T/O virus.

Sadly if he does get a new series it will probably get cancelled after a dozen issues at most.

When they first introduced Cable, I thought that the arm and eye were supposed to be just be bionic and have nothing to do with a TO virus, this is before they decided to make him Cyclops and Jean Grey's son, etc, so it would be interesting if he ended up with a bionic arm
after all.

When they first introduced him the arm and eye were just bionic. The T-O virus came later, after the retcon that he was actually Scott and Madelyne Pryor's son who was sent to the future. I guess someone at Marvel at the time decided to connect those dots...

I like that they did. It makes him more interesting.

It was interesting at the time cause he mentions his arm being bionic and that he could always create a new one. He would build things into his arm. Then Claremont had nathan infected by apocalypse and sent to the future. Made for pretty cool symetry.

We have already seen what happens when he loses the virus, it was done in Cable #100. Now he's cured again but it is uncertain if his missing arm was restored or not. The panel with him on the table cuts off so you can't see, and the last page of X-sanction is in the astral plane so that doesn't really count.

I think he's going to play a major role in Act 3 of AvX and that's going to be what leads to him looking roughed up like he did in that promo image for Marvel NOW! He may also be the one that pulls the Original Five X-men from the past to the present. Given his history with time travel, I think that would be the most likely scenario. But Marvel doesn't always do what's most likely so there's still a chance they could try something else. Whatever they do, I would like to see Cable head up another X-book. Maybe he'll take over on Brian Wood's adjectiveless run or take over X-Force. The possibilities for him are practically endless.

As long as he has sex with Deadpool, he can do anything.
The last team book Cable was on was adjectiveless, it would be groovy if he were to return. Or maybe X-Force. Both teams have someone he was ripe to have intercourse with in C&D. Deadpool and Domino.
The TO will never go away for more than an arc or two. He'll always be a guy with diminished powers, and a metal arm and massive gun to make up for that.

Im going with you on that one Cable will be in act 3 do domething big then head x-force when wolverine leaves after final execution arc in uncanny x-force ends

One of the Marvel editors (I think it was C.B. Cebulski) at Kapow Con said Cable would be showing up in Act II of AvX, so that means issue 8 or 9 unless he was mistaken.

Act three begins in issue #9 so either Cable wakes up at the end of #8 or sometime near the finale. With the world burning in #11-12 it would make sense for him to come out of his healing coma in time to either watch Hope die or save her.

Either way, Cable is listed as having a team up with Cap in A + X #1 so I would imagine he will have to wake up by the end of AvX or at the very latest during Consequences. They cant lose the opportunity given the finale involves his father and his daughter.
