    Default Hickman's EIGHTEEN Avengers?

Indeed, news is washing over us that Hickman will be taking over adjectiveless Avengers, and he's doing to such an extent, that he seems to be swallowing up New Avengers and going bi-weekly with it! 0.o

In order to do so, he's putting together a ginormous team, that he can write bi-weekly, back-to-back issues.

So... who do you guys figure he'll use? And what on Earth can the big hook for the team be...? The story-engine, so to speak.

Hopefully he will realize that the Avengers are NOT the Ultimates, and do something completely different. No doubt it WON'T be like his FF, which is cool, because it shouldn't be.

What will the big idea be?? Pro-active, global Avengers...? Multi-species Avengers? UNIVERSAL?? 0_o ( thinking a merge with the Guardians of the Galaxy concept here)

But most importantly... who will he use?? And which characters do you all wish that he did?

I'll give my own 10 cents on this, with the ones that I deem the most likely:

    1. Thor

    2. Captain America

    3. Iron Man

    4.Hulk
    5.Black Widow
    6.Hawkeye
7.Black Panther ( Hickman likes him and Wakanda-concepts)
8.Giant-Man ( mentally disturbed poly-math. right up his alley)
    9.Wolverine ( can't do it without the cash-cow)
10.Spider-man ( as above, but Hickman actually likes him as well)

RIGHT! That's the usual suspects... but whom do we have left then? This is where the list starts to get interesting... Will we see old fan-fave's returning? NEW recruits? (I'm thinking mutants here) Or perhaps the return of really obscure ones? Hard to say... but I'll give it a go, with a rather safe load-out.

    11. Captain Britain ( Hickman loves BIG ideas, and by laying his hands on CB, he gets access to a TON of big ideas)

    12. Beast ( poly-math, mutant connection)
    13. Marcus Fury ( new SHIELD-liasion, Hickman likes SHIELD)
    14. War Machine
    15. Captain Marvel - Carol Danvers ( gives him access to Cosmic and Kree-stuff, Marvel will want her on the book as well)
    16. Vision ( bound to touch on Remenders descendants stuff)
    17. Human Torch ( first wild-card! It kind of makes sense. Last FF-er to be an Avenger)
    18. Nova ( time to go cosmic...And Marvel no doubt wants to showcase the new Nova)

Basically more or less the expulsion of every down-to-Earth or street-level hero, as well as mystical ones, from the Avengers. I see Hickman as more of a high-concept Sci-fi -writer and less of a Fantasy one.

The following char's will then end up in limbo or simply in their own series:

Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Dr Strange, Daredevil, Red Hulk, Valkyrie, Thing, Jewel, Mockingbird, Spider-Woman.

Daredevil always has his own series, Dr Strange is bound to get a new one in the relaunch, Valkyrie may well get to headline the Lady Liberators - since it's been in the works since FI: Fearless, Red Hulk has his own series - AND the Parker-penned Agents of Smash, Thing has always got FF.

Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jewel, Mockingbird and Spider-woman will no doubt however (SADLY) be thrown on the obscure-char' scrap-heap to rot for another 10 or so years.

Well... I suppose in theory one could make a pretty awesome Heroes for Hire line-up with that roster, but what the hell do I know...

Well I hope whatever the line up is it has more than two women. Maybe get She-Hulk, Monica Rambeau and some cosmic ladies on the team? With Wolverine already on the Uncanny Avengers squad, I really hope he doesn't show up here.

This is probably the only relaunched book that I am even a little bit optimistic about.

In theory a 18 deep roster should keep everybody happy.

You can have the Cash Cow Contingent (Cap, Thor, Iron Man, Hulk) AND the Secondary Tier Guys(Hawkeye, Pym, Vision, Scarlet Witch) AND long neglected members(Black Panther, Monica Rambeau, Sersi, Mantis) and more(Cage?, Black Widow?, Nu-Nova?) ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

I think there's a good chance of Iron Fist being there. Hickman seems to like him.

I'd love to see Sersi and Black Knight back on the team.

Wanda and Vision also need to reconcile.

    So that's 4.

Anyone else can then join them

With 18 different Avengers in the title I really feel their is no need for titles like Secret Avengers,New Avengers and Avengers Assemble anymore.Have a cast that big is more then enough to showcase any of the old school and new school avengers.I hope the really cut down on the number of Avengers title(which I doubt will happen) and streamline their titles.

    Something like this

    Uncanny Avengers
    Avengers
    Avengers Academy
    Power Man and Iron Fist
    Defenders
    Guardians of the Galaxy

I have been asking for a larger, single team, so, so far, it appears I'm happy.
The hook? Global Avengers, of course. EARTH"s Mightiest Heroes.
    The team?
Well, I'm going for who I'd like to see on the team, so I'm dropping the cash cows.

    1. Captain America
    2. Iron Man (well, I'd rather these two also tokk a breather from the Avengers, however, it's hard to imagine a reestructuring of this scale without them)
    3. Thor
    4. Giant Man
    5. Wasp (yes, she needs to be brought back, so all the originals can be on this)
    6. Hulk (Fits the current Marvel mentality, and I have always wanted to see him more active on the team. Plus, 1000 times him over Rulk)
    7. Captain Marvel (Carol - recieving the big push)
    8. Hawkeye
    9. Photon (Hope Hickman is the writer to really bring her back)
    10. Black Panther (I'd rather he led a more international team of Avengers, but I'm satisfied with him having any part in this)
    11. Spider Woman (Hope Hickman finds a way to develop her the way Bendis never did. I liked that quirky Spider Woman of her earlier years)
    12. Wonder Man (Back to his sane, normal, all-around good guy, old self)
    13. Falcon ( Let this be his real shot at the Avengers)
    14. Moondragon (Because the team needs a telepath, and she is a great frickin' bitch)
    15. Vision (No avenger team is complete without him)
    16. Son of Satan (Mystical expert, and evey team needs a jerk - new addition)
    17. American Eagle (New blood, and a little bit more diversity)
    18. Sepulchre (New blood, and quite powerful)

Wow, 18 wasn't enough. Left out favorites such as Hercules, Black Knight, She-Hulk, Firebird, etc...
As for the exclusion of Cage, Fist, Strange and others, Marvel is announcing that new books will come out. maybe they'll find a home in one of them.

    Peace

I'm all for a Power Man and Iron Fist and GotG book, but like the Defenders, none of them is an Avengers book.

A return of some of the classic female Avengers power houses would be boss! Sersi, Monica Rambeau, Firestar, Crystal and Moondragon would all be greatly appreciated.

    Bring back D-Man!

I'd like to see Pym, Songbird, Vision and Hercules in it personally.

He's going to have to do some sort of cast calculus with this one. I think it'll probably be two teams of nine, with alternating stories (sort of like how the Thunderbolts are split now between the present-day team and the time-travelers). For big events they can combine.

Kelly Sue DeConnick said that Carol Danvers would remain on the Avengers after she becomes Captain Marvel. I suppose plans could always change, but it seems very like that Carol has a spot on the team.

Well, Hickman's revealed one member of the team: Shang-Chi!

The first story arc is also called "Avengers World."
