this book has consistently been one of my favorites. the characterization, intrigue, mythology and art all combine to create an aesthetic i've not seen in a monthly since Girls by the Luna Brothers.

one of my favorite books on the stands!

I really want to like this book but even for a story that is intentionally a slow burn, this thing moves at a GLACIAL pace. I just can't stick with it. Seeing as how Nick Spencer wants this to be a 100 (!) issue series, I can't support it financially.

Agreed, although I prefer "The Sword" by the Luna Bros .... Girls kind of lost steam towards the end, though it's still great. Sword had the most perfect pacing I've ever seen, and so far Morning Glories is the same, not slow at all for me.

ah, the Sword. another of my favorites. i wish something the Luna's have done would get picked up by HBO or Hollywood.

Morning Glories, to me, does a great job of dangling bits of information between the obvious lines. it doesn't spoon feed you info through exposition, but the art and what is/isn't said do a good job of leading the imagination toward what is eventually revealed. personally, i hope the book lasts 100 issues. about twenty in, i think i'm starting to get a feel for how sweeping and wide-spread the plot actually is. seemingly irrelevant plot threads are now coming back in a strong way.

it reminds me of my favorite aspect of Lost, which in general is about a group of people crash-landing in the middle of a conflict between parties they don't understand. each episode taught a little bit more until we got a clear understanding of the scope and scale. it's intriguing and keeps the book on the top of my read pile.

He really lost me, not due to the pace, but just due to...idk, occasionally stupid writing. It was that, 'accidentally kill and dispose of the teacher flashback' that pretty much killed the whole deal for me. And that's too bad.

I would love to get back on. Do your best, Spencer, I'll give it a go.
