At most, it's Lee/Kirby-era Jean in some sort of time travel/AOA-style futzed up timeline arc.

Remember that kerfuffle on Brevoort's twitter feed a couple of weeks back? Marvel's not going to do a straight up resurrection of Jean because doing so means dealing with her marriage to Scott. Permanently splitting them up was part of the point of having Morrison kill her off. Scott and Jean as a couple in present continuity is verboten.

I get the sense there's another One More Day-style mega-retcon coming with Quesada & Co. jettisoning more stuff they don't like from continuity.

Of course, he was. That was the point!

Morrison's writ wasn't to succeed Lobdell and continue with the Claremont template. It was to dismantle that template, reinvent the characters and the concept, and push the franchise in a new direction. For better or worse, that's what he did. Hence, New X-Men.

    Spoilers:.........

I am just browsing through this weeks entertainment weekly and there is an article about Comi-Con with one page addressing the upcoming changes in the Marvel universe:
ps, since everybody can get this, and it looks like it comes straight from Marvel ( that is what the article is implying) I'm not really spoiling a big secret, but still spoilers:
    .................................

Uncanny Avengers: (oct 2012) written by Remender. It is going to be the new flagship marvel title and will have among others Cap, Thor, Wolvy, Rogue and Havok in it and both sides will still have some AVX tension.

Avengers (dec 2012): Bi weekly with more then 18 avengers on the team. Written by Hickman with one shot stories and longer galaxy spanning multi-issue arcs

X-men: (nov 2012) hold on to your hats...... Bendis!!! about the original five x-men time-travel two the present in a pleasantville style story and who are not going to like what they see once they are in the present and will find it unacceptable. Bendis says the time travel aspect of the story is not as important as the character based drama.

There is a nice Quesada drawn piece with the article( sorry can't scan it) that shows the entire picture of that Jean grey drawing we were teased with. On there is the hulk ( looks like the original green one, but nowadays that could not be the original), Jean Grey, Nova, Captain America, Nick Fury ( yes the black one), Rocket Raccoon, Wolverine, Iron Man, Thor, Invisible Woman and.......... Cable ( in a different outfit, with eyepatch, and big gun and still one arm metallic) and............................................... ................................Cyclops!!! with a tweaked costume and different x shaped visor!!
All characters have tweaked/ updated/new costumes. Even the Hulk. Wolverine still looks, the same though. ( and Invisible woman too).
In the picture is also a floating space suit helmet. I don't know what that is supposed to mean.!!!!

    Hickman + Avengers = win
    Bendis + X-Men = we're doomed

Interesting to see Havok on the tieam, I hope Remender takes on Polaris as well, its about time those two had a bigger roll in the marvel universe. Is this Bendis X-Men book Uncaany X-Men?

God how many time travel stories with the O5 do we need?

Do you have a link to this article?

Re the Invisible Woman: How can you tell?

Although I suppose being invisible looks the same no matter what she looks like the rest of the time.

Oh, and as long as Wolverine and the X-Men stays written by Aaron I don't care what Bendis does with the time-travel story. In fact, putting him on what amounts to a sort of alternate reality version of the X-Men (even if they're the 616 ones traveled from the past to the present) is a lot better than putting him on some kind of central X-book.

Which issue of EW is it in?
What is this, Horseville? Because I'm surrounded by naysayers.

If it's in EW as we speak, then we'll probably get something more from Marvel any day now.

And I thought all the big announcements wouldn't happen until Comic-Con weekend.

Sorry otipep_90 , no link. I have the paper version of Entertainment weekly in my hand and i don't have a scanner! And Invisible woman is drawn in her visible form ( with the white suit) with her legs faded out a bit. The Hulk costume is very interesting though. It looks like some some sort of warrior armor but more in a modern way. Cable is a bit pushed away in a corner, so he is not so visible, but clearly there is lots of red in his new look and the left hand holding the big gun is metallic. Cap has the movie look. Iron man has a lot of black. Thor is a bit tweaked, he clearly has two swords on his back though and has more black in his costume. Wolvy in the yellow/blue costume ( ugh, I am the more for the brown costume or the black x-force costume). Ccylops has a red costume, but it could also be black and with a red glow from his visor. Spiderman looks the same and so does Nova and Nick Fury ( except it's the new African American Movie Nick Fury)
The EW issue is the july 13, 2012 issue. #1215. It was in the mail today.

    Hahahahahahahahaha! Trolled again.

    Eff you, Marvel.

Pretty much forgone conclusion: Done after AvX.

Move along people, nothing to see here.

Just X-Men First to Last II.
Sorry Brevoort, Alonso and Lowe, but Jean Grey is a classic character. She'll outlive you regardless. :)

Yesterday's X-Men. I can't believe Wood's outstanding work is going to be replaced with this crap. I do not like the sound of Uncanny Avengers at all, but if it means losing Havok from X-Factor and ending things between him and Lorna, then there's at least that.

Thanks Devrim, I'll have to check it out.

I guess there is no hope, Marvel is satisfied with giving Jean the Captian Marvel treatment, though he has been abused just as much as her recently. I feel like quiting all marvel comics, it no longer affors me anything. All favorites have been killed off, exiled into limbo, canceled, and abused.
