Joe McBride, the much-travelled striker who was part of the Celtic squad that won the European Cup in 1967, has died after suffering a stroke, aged 74.

McBride began his career with Kilmarnock and also had spells with Wolves, Luton, Partick Thistle, Hibs, Motherwell, Dunfermline and Clyde.

He also won two caps for Scotland.

That's a shame. I remember meeting him as a kid and being in awe of someone who actually won the European Cup.

John Terry is a nob head, but i don't think he's racist. Why would other black people stick up for him if he was racist? That would make them just as bad if you think about it. Maybe even worse.

    me too. :)
What have I always believed? That, on the whole, and by and large, if a person lived properly, not according to what any priests said, but according to what seemed decent and honest inside, then it would, at the end, more or less, turn out ok.

Of course the FA have still got to decide if they take any action now.

Don't you think they are just going to try and quietly put this behind them? Terry's lost the captaincy, a criminal court found him not guilty, and, unlike Suarez & Liverpool, Chelsea remained dignified during the season.

The new Rangers have been voted into Division Three by Scottish Football League clubs but say it could trigger a breakaway second tier.
At Hampden, 25 of the 30 clubs voted against Rangers being in Division One.
But Rangers' website stated: "It was mooted last week that plans for an SPL2 would swing into action, but it is not known if this will be the case."
They earlier claimed to have assurances from the Scottish Premier League and Scottish FA chief executives.
Both Clyde and Dunfermline Athletic had expressed those fears immediately prior to the meeting at Hampden, where 29 clubs had initially voted in favour of admitting Rangers to the SFL before taking a vote on the division in which they should play.

Oh dear God, this is never going to end is it.

Garth Crooks makes some interesting comments about the Terry trial - http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisf...terry-trial-fa

What's more disappointing than anything is the comments section, a general mix of offensive nonsense.
If there's one thing that's come out of this, it's hopefully that the spotlight will lead to some progress against actual racism on and off the pitch.
Terry's defence is that he thought he was repeating what was said to him, this is one context where lack of censure for saying what he said could be considered allowable, though the magistrate was unsure of this himself in his remarks. It's worth pointing out that the magistrate thought Terry a credible witness, and he did not in any way think he was racist, or "massive racist" if you prefer.
It's also worth pointing out that the alleged affair with Vanessa Perroncel is referred to as alleged because of actions she made against the papers who did say an affair happened, and then had to print retractions. In both cases, there was not enough proof, and we're meant to be good enough to have a presumption of innocence.
However, if Terry had been found guilty, I still wouldn't have thought he was racist, it just wouldn't seem likely given the people around him day-in, day-out. He would've been proven to be worse than racist if proven guilty though, someone who knows better, and who therefore fell lower, rather than just an ignorant idiot as racists tend to be.
I won't castigate him without enough evidence, but neither will I crow about the result and excuse the fucking shameful behaviour of some fans who've abused Ferdinand on the terraces since this has all happened.

Well put and and I agree with your conclusion.

    Bingo.

John Terry isn't a racist but he is guilty of using racist language which makes him look like a Massive Racist. We're through the looking glass people........

Chelsea players were going to come out with T-shirts saying 'JT isn't a Massive Racist and we all love him', or something like that, until someone with a brain at the club realised it was a dreadful idea.

It's the Guardian. It's where middle class London liberals can be Massive Racists.

Don't hold your breath. The FA ensured that Not Racist, But Guilty of Using Massively Racist Language John Terry got an amazing easy ride with the fact this case was moved til now when any other pleb would have been done and dusted by now.

    He's still a Massive Cunt.

This is where the serious hat comes on. The English FA took a blind eye to Chelsea fans who were singing racist songs aimed at Ferdinand beyond a slap on the wrist when in fact there should have been fines and bans but they're not going to damage one of their cash cows too much.
