In other religious news, the reverend John Brooks died. For those who dont know he was at one point president of the college of the holy cross and activley recruited Black Students in the 70's, many of whom went on to prominent careers, like Clarence Thomas and Edward P Jones and was said to have played a large role in their lives.
Always sad when a good religious man dies, leaving only those with hate.

Always fun to see what happens when those guys lose immunity.
My blog.
We struggled against apartheid in South Africa, supported by people the world over, because black people were being blamed and made to suffer for something we could do nothing about; our very skins. It is the same with sexual orientation. It is a given.

The Barclays bank scandal proves every single worst thing you could think of regarding banks and government. It's a pretty fast moving story but the Guardian is running a good blog here but the fallout for this won't just be restricted to the UK.
And yes, this is yet another example of how the poor lose money to the rich.
what has to happen to get these "people" to understand that you're not supposed to be doing this?
I say lynchings but I know that is overreacting

at the risk of sounding hyperbolic, maybe....will it take a news story about someone finding a CFO or some sort of banking exec found hung or beaten to death to send a message to them that you can't keep acting this way and doing these things just to pad your own well being

Court costs have more than doubled since I started practicing predominantly criminal law 10 years ago. I've had long talks with the Chief Justice of our state Supreme Court about how we're criminalizing poverty. He understands. And commiserates. And then because the legislature keeps cutting budgets the costs keep going up and up.
So has anyone heard a coherent explanation of why the bastards involved with LIBOR fixing can't be charged with straight-up fraud?

No. Well publicised arrests, with suspects filmed as they are led away in cuffs (no hiding under blankets). Followed by swift trials & some exemplary sentences for those found guilty, and the siezure of assests, should soon start to concentrate minds in the banking industry.
Erm, something, something, not actually a legally regulated something, I think. Of course I am only paraphrasing and I may be entirely wrong.
Doesn't really belong in the Complaints about Republicans thread. And we don't have a Plaudits for Republicans or Democrats thread. But Rick Snyder vetoes broader voter ID bill. I'm surprised by that and a few of his other vetoes which also killed bills to make it more difficult to vote. I'd like to see more of his reasoning behind it.
