That would be achieving a de facto safezone all around the Turkish border then, and right at the time when the opposition have agreed to a new unified body (except for the ones who haven't), the Gulf and France recognise that body as a government-in-exile, demonstrations across the country, and reports of a continued advance that has taken Hamdan airforce base.

BCTGM members are well aware that as the company was preparing to file for bankruptcy earlier this year, the then CEO of Hostess was awarded a 300 percent raise (from approximately $750,000 to $2,550,000) and at least nine other top executives of the company received massive pay raises. One such executive received a pay increase from $500,000 to $900,000 and another received one taking his salary from $375,000 to $656,256

Hamas's leader is talking to Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey about a ceasefire, as opposed to talking with Israel or, y'know, stopping firing. So that's them taking the piss then.

Also, on where those air strikes:

One of the strikes targeted the home of a Hamas leader in the Jabaliya refugee camp - one of the most densely populated places in the world.

It looks as though the missile went in through the front room. The washing is still hanging on a line, and everything else is totally destroyed. Most of the people around here are young children. We understand that 30 people were injured here, some of them children, and some of them critically.
You fire a missile there - which is a house and not a rocket site - you know there's going to be civilians hurt.

A poll for the Observer finds that 56% of Britons might vote to leave the EU.

The EU is almost half our exports and gives us the common market, so that means 56% of Britons would vote for something that would harm the economy during a time of stagnated growth.

Two major Israeli newspapers are reporting that rockets fired from Egypt have hit Israel.

"Terrorists in the Sinai Peninsula launched rockets into Israel Friday night," reports the Jerusalem Post. "The rockets fell near an Israeli village on the southern border, causing some damage, but no injuries."

The Israeli daily Haaretz reports, "Rockets fired from direction of Egypt toward Eshkol Regional Council."

It appears no damage was reported in connection with the rocket fire from Egypt. Earlier today, the Egyptian prime minister visited Gaza to express solidarity with the Palestinians there.

This new front comes a day after a rocket landed near Tel Aviv and on the same day Israel's capital Jerusalem was the target of rocket fire. Those attacks were courtesy of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

"After Tel Aviv metropolitan area, capital under fire too: An air raid siren was sounded in Jerusalem and surrounding communities early Friday evening. After residents reported hearing blast sounds, security forces confirmed that one rocket had landed in the Gush Etzion area near a Palestinian village," Ynet reports.

"There were no reports of injuries or damage. This was the first air raid siren sounded in the area since the IDF launched Operation Pillar of Defense in the Gaza Strip. Air raid sirens were sounded in southern communities throughout the day and a barrage of missiles hit the area."

The problem is people don't actually know what the EU does (and before I go on I'll say the EU needs to sort itself out fast) and how much it does benefit the UK, but although such a referendum is unlikely we've seen how badly the voting reform one was handled last year because of how it was rushed through without any real serious debate from all sides. That's what Cameron, Milliband and most of the London media want to do with the vote on Scottish independence in order to rush the debate and get the result they want even though it's always been made clear the vote would be in 2014.

Another thing is UKIP who are picking up Tory voters but again the media need to do a good dig into the closet on UKIP because there's a lot of rattling skeletons rattling in there.

Anonymous will justify their existence if they hack the Mail's website and put a Mail-style "BAN THIS FILTH" screed on it...

    -

    BBC's reporting:

    1358:

An unidentified senior Israeli official has arrived in Cairo for ceasefire talks, according to AP news agency quoting Egyptian security officials.
    and hopefully that's true.

    EDIT: Hareetz are reporting

7:55 P.M. Interior Minister Eli Yishai on Israel's operation in Gaza: "The goal of the operation is to send Gaza back to the Middle Ages. Only then will Israel be calm for forty years."
as in, he allegedly said that in public. I hope to Grud that's fabricated. Nobody with that job should be saying "we plan to do something that will kill hundreds, maybe thousands". Then again, Yishai is the same tosspot who said he "couldn't judge" race rioters and said that Sudanese immigrants were a threat to "the Zionist dream".

Reporters Without Borders et al are pissed about the IDF launching an air strike on Palestinian media companies (where foreign journalists are also based). The Deputy Prime Minister has said "we did not intend to target journalists", which is dodging the issue.

And Hamas thinks it's still a good idea to keep firing rockets anyway when there isn't the slightest chance that they can win anything.

The last time Israel had a fight with Hamas, the majority of deaths were Palestinians. That's going to happen again because for all Hamas' brutality and bastardry, Israel is far more powerful and isn't that careful about minimising civilian deaths. Israel will win and there'll be a lot of dead people.

(There was a guy in south Israel telling the BBC that the IDF drops warning leaflets before airstrikes, so civilians can leave - where exactly are they supposed to go?)
Aparentlythe Strikes are not working since the rockers keep coming into Israel, the only folks with any ability to stop this is Hamas.

It's all bullshit and political posturing.

HAMAS knws they can't do any signficant damage to Israel but they can be a continuing source of fear - which is bad for the Israeli government.

Israel knows that if they push too hard wit the strieks they risk a political backlash in the Arab world that oudl be disastrous - like the Jordanian government being overthrown by pro-Palestinian Islamists.

So HAMAS will play tough, Israel will play tough, a few more Israelsi and a lot more Gazans will die then when Bibi's won re-election and HAMAs can claim they've defending Palestine's "honor", they'll sit down and talk.

And blame all the deaths and injuries on the other side and dissavow any responsibility, let's not forget that bit.
