    Dunno if I agree with that. All marvels movies seem to have had a fairly similar tone to me, and all follow a pretty basic formula. Which has been a detriment IMO. Also Supermans last swing at the bat with Bryan Singer was quite doom & gloomy and that sucked.

    The answer to the thread title's question.

    Because a lot of people are insecure about their own opinions and judgements.

    It's not enough that Avengers and The Dark Knight made over a billion dollars each, the fans need the movies validated by all the top critics, they need these movies to win at Cannnes, nab all the Oscars and win MTV's coveted "BEST KISS" award!

    Yes...I started getting that feeling after the first Spider-Man movie came out...but the fandom does crave that validation

    I dunno, I had a crap ton of fun watching Dark Knight. That was a damn exciting film.
