Wow. They have lower sidelines for $77. Crazy prices. I'd go to pretty much any game for $8. But then I'm not your average Miamian.

A few observations/opinions regarding the bowl schedule:

I see a vast wasteland of 6-6 teams in the Nobody Cares Bowl. There's even a team with a losing record. Hell, man! I can't wait to see powerhouses like Rice and Air Force square off against each other.

I'm of two minds on the NIU BCS inclusion. Yeah, I like that a team from the MAC made it in. Always good to see a team like that get a shot. On the other hand, could the rule that qualified them have been more esoteric? I mean, OK, some of the big conferences are down and it's a perfect year to bring in a small conference team, but this ain't Boise State from a few years back, or even Utah from before that. Those teams had chops. On any hand, I'm going to vacillate on it, and just hope they can make it a game.

ND has a decent rush defense, but they haven't seen a line like Bama's. 8 points ain't enough. If it stays there, I'm putting money on Bama. At the same time, I'm going to be sitting in the local wing joint rooting my ass off for ND.

Heh, being an Ohio State fan, I'm OK with the ban this year. But it's fun to conjecture. What if OSU had self-imposed a bowl ban last year and the NCAA had accepted that as sufficient? (I do *NOT* believe for a second that the NCAA would have. They would have still tossed this year on for good measure . Just sayin') Then you have to further assume that OSU would beat Nebraska for a second time in the Big 10 title game. The BCS title game would be ND-OSU, Sugar would have Alabama vs Louisville, Florida would be in the Rose instead of Wisconsin (yes, I do believe that), Wisconsin would be . . . who cares, it's Wisconsin and Bilema. But that's just silly conjecture. This year the OSU players are home opening presents with their girlfriends.

Of the games I see being interesting, I like the Fiesta, and the Rose *IF* (BIG BIG IF) Bilema finally learns that he has one of the best running games in the NCAA in years. (don't take that for granted. Ask TCU and Oregon State for references), Boise-Washington could be fun, the Alamo Bowl has potential, and the Cotton Bowl should be bloody. A few of the others might make for decent background noise over a beer.

The BCS dodged one helluva bullet with OSU. Undefeated Notre Dame. Undefeated Ohio State. One loss Alabama (who also happen to be defending national champions). Good luck with that mess, BCS.

According to Yahoo, Bielema's leaving Wisconsin for Arkansas.

So, y'know, Wisconsin might actually have a chance in the Rose Bowl.

Did not see that coming. I saw a lot of rumors floating around. Never saw that one.

Also looks like Gus Malzahn will return to Auburn as the head coach.

I've paid that much to get in to a few of my son's away games. It really is ridiculously cheap.

    I applaud this wholeheartedly.

I might add I made the mistake of venturing in to a few Arkansas and SEC sites to posit the informed opinion that there was no way Chris Petersen was taking the Arkansas job. Those people are crazy. It is good to know that unsubstantiated blog posts are gospel to some people.

Do you think Petersen will stay at Boise? His name is always being thrown around for big jobs.

UCLA threw serious money at him. Stanford made a big move at him with a team that was loaded with talent. Cal doesn't seem to be tempting him. He might leave for Oregon. He's a west-coast guy, but hasn't taken any of the big west-coast jobs.

He makes $2 million a year plus incentives. His son survived cancer and is well integrated in to the community. I'd never say never, but it will take special job, maybe Oregon, to get him to go.

I had no doubt that Arkansas was smoke and mirrors.

Barry A is comingback to coach the ROSE BOWL game because the Captains asked him to do it.
Now Whisky has a chance to win. Barry is 3-0 in Rose Bowls, Bielema was 0-2.

I really HATE 6-6 teams(Iowa State) being in bowl games.
They need to cut about 10-12 bowl games.
Don't SWEAR! I find it OFFENSIVE!

Then how else will those Iowa States cap off a season of meeting expectations?

Personally, I don't really care much for the minor bowls. However, since most of us know my school aliegance is to a program that made a bowl game once in the past twenty years, 6-6 would be deemed a "successful" year, although the personal goal is to make it where 6-6 isn't a cause for celebration. My general gripe is that some of these bowls actually don't pay (and I'm not talking about a one-off bowl game in Atlanta about a decade ago with a $0 purse) what was publicized. Then again, I did read "Death to the BCS" which had a chapter built around the payout process of minor bowls.
