No, X-23 was the label given to her by The Facility, Laura was the name given to her by her mother and "Talon" was her short-lived and ill-advised code name.

Whatever Zebra Daddy named her should be her canonical birth name.

Does this make the X-Women into "lesser" superheroes?
To me it makes them seem less silly, if you have no secret identity the code-name bit is pretty silly if you think about it.

Code-names in comics and the real world are to keep secrets, once the secret is out they are simply an affectation

There is no aversion to codenames.

Kitty is still Shadowcat. There's just no point in her using a codename when she's a publicly known school headmaster. I don't even think she can be called a superhero anymore.
Jean was still Phoenix up until she died.
Rachel never really had one except for Phoenix, which she gave up, and Marvel Girl, which was stupid.
Emma's codename was her Hellfire title. It's stupid for her to use it unless she's killing horses, stealing people's bodies for debauchery, and beating children. It's even stupid for her to continue dressing in white.

    Storm still codenamed.
    Rogue still codenamed.
    Psylocke still codenamed.

Fans tend to use most characters' real names when referring to them. Cap is Steve. Iron Maniac is Tony. Cyke is Scott. Beast is Hank. Etc.

And no, Luke Cage is an even better superhero since he dropped "Power Man."

Rogue is using Raven as her last name. I agree that it's probably not her birth name, but it's what she has chosen to use. It's the surname she gives her two kids in the End: they're both Raven LeBeau.

And, depressingly, we've had her real family background in her ongoing series. It was that ridiculously convoluted nonsense with Owen, Priscilla, Aunt Carrie and the Far Banks.

Storm grants lesser X-women permission to use their birth names. CANON!

mikek has a point -- code names are for people keeping secrets and to masks identities...the x-men -- fore the most part -- ain't been doin' that lately...

and off point (a tad), why do many of the fans (and writers) insist on using the code names when the characters do have names (ie ororo munroe is her name not storm)...
