This is my FAVORITE ERA!! My first comic was an issue of Super Team Family reprinting a Composite Superman story. How do you not get hooked by a guy with half a Superman costume & half a Batman costume?? I liked Secret Society & it was really getting good before it was cancelled. Kobra was another title I've discovered over the years that was pretty good.

I remember being in a Woolworth dept. store in 1976. I see a guy throwing items in a bin. I get closer & it's the Limited Collector's Editions of Superman vs Flash & Superboy & the Legion! My mouth was watering. He asked me if I'd like them & gave me copies for FREE!!! He then proceded to tear the covers off the others & toss them in the bin. What a tragedy but what a wonderful moment for a 5 yr old!!

Batman Family was cancelled with the Robin and Batgirl content that was appearing there being moved to the lesser selling at that time Detective.

Detective was offered up for cancellation at #480. But they decided it was one of the long running titles and moved the better selling Batman Family into the book then. To keep it around. Its kinda weird that 401 issues later...the series would be cancelled for a relaunch.

You're a man after my own heart, Jon. A coverless copy of that issue of Super-Team Family is indeed one of the comics I've owned the longest. And I also enjoyed SSoSV and Kobra (especially the Mike Nasser issues).

My favorite from this era was undoubtedly Shade, the Changing Man, though I also loved Ragman and recently discovered Stalker. I've heard good things about Rima, the Jungle Girl, but I haven't dipped my toes in yet.

Awesome memory about the treasury editions--brings a tear to the eye!!
