I worry because while you would be able to have Rocket on there for some time, Groot will be a much harder and expensive to keep on screen and some people maynot get the joke with his speech patterns. Also, I figure it is going to be difficult to have two or more characters that share natural green skin color is either green or Warlock's shimmering gold, but time will tell.

And as much as I love Gamora, I am actually hoping for Mantis, if they keep her like she was in Guardians with the green skin.

GotG could be a great animated series but it's a bad choice for a live action movie. It might work in the end but it's a pretty risky choice, particularly considering how many other properties they have available that are better fits for live action adaptation.

My theory, which is probably wrong, is that the Avengers tease at the end wasn't teasing Avengers 2 but rather was teasing Thor 2 and Thanos will be the big bad of that movie. Thanos wants the Cosmic Cube er Tesseract and last we saw it was with Thor.

So maybe the GoTG will appear in Thor which will be coming out before the proposed GoTG movie.
Price your book at $3.99 and I'll trade wait. Make me wait too long for the trade PAPERback and I'll say screw it. I'm looking at you Marvel and Spider Island.

HUGE gamble. Sci-fi/interstellar comic book movies have not fared was well as their "street level" counterparts.

I see how this could connect to Thanos and the other movies though...

Groot I don't think would be all that hard to do. Use some forced perspective with a guy in a Groot suit, and maybe build a big Groot head or whatever if it's needed.

Or just steal footage from LOTR and use CGI to put a suit on it.

There was a line at the end of Avengers where The Other tells Thanos that to attack Earth is to invite Death. Thanos is in love with Mistress Death, the embodiment of nihilism and death. So if he attacks Earth, he thinks he might finally meet her.

But, he also has tried to get the Cosmic Cube, as well. So you could be right.

All I want are two things from this...DnA involvement or any past writers of the team that is not Bendis.

And who is voicing Rocket Raccoon if he's involved with the team.

And don't forget, even though it was a scene that was cut, Odin has the Infinity Gauntlet, too.

Have there really been any? Flash Gordon & Barbarella are the only ones that come to mind, and while neither did well, that movie based on old Flash Gordon serials sure as hell did.

Although...the Iron Man movies are all sci-fi, and the Thor movie had interstellar stuff in it (and weird sci-fi magic stuff) and those movies all did well. Even The Avengers had them overtly fighting space aliens, and that movies done pretty good.

This movie could be awesome. It needs to have a bizarre sense of humour to it though. It could be successful, it's all about marketing. And with the success of Avengers make it be known that the stories are all linked. I'm sure Thanos will be involved.

Got a link? I would be interested in reading about this development.

Last I heard, Fox still had the rights and was working on (what else) a reboot of the series. Mind providing a link?

I would much rather have seen the REAL GotG in a movie.
The 2008 version is a collection of C-list Marvel characters that couldn't carry their own books separately, so they got lumped together in a Team title with a recognizable/nostalgic Title. Every one of them has a convoluted history and backstory, and to try and muscle ALL of it into one film is practically undoable. Either that, or they'll drastically truncate and change the backstory, making them only cosmetically resembling the comic versions.

The original team, however, had a pretty straightforward Origin and Introduction. Plus, Major Vance Astro is like the coolest super hero name ever. I ask you, if you had a kickass name like Vance Astro, why would you ever pick a cheesy codename like Justice? I'd be rockin' my real name as my SuperHero name.
I believe all that needs to be said has been. So here’s my two cents.”-- ScottMC, inadvertently summing up the Internet.

Green Lantern is the first that comes to mind. John Carter is another. Iron Man is not really what I meant by "sci-fi" -- by "sci-fi" I'm talking about traveling in space, etc. And Thor comes off more as fantasy that "intergalactic space" stuff.
