Default Adviice Needed - Honest Dealer in London?

    Hi,

I recently found a box of my old comics and am looking to sell. Can anyone recommend an honest dealer in the London area who would offer a fair price?

    Thanks!

There are three large, well-respected comic shops in central London: Gosh, Forbidden Planet and Orbital. rRng any one of them, if they aren't buying themselves they can probably recommend someone to you.

Be aware that you'll probably get far less than you may have been led to believe by tabloid stories about "Gran finds Action #1 in attic."

Thanks very much. I certainly have no illusions that I'm sitting on a gold mine. I know I'm not but it's time for them to find a new home whatever they're worth but also want a fair price for them. Thanks again

    What do you have?

Also, never sell any comics to FP. You'll be ripped off.

No dealer will ever offer you more than 50% of a comic's market value unless it's something they can flip in like 5 minutes.

If you're in it for the money, your best bet would be to try eBay.

If you get 50% of FMV I wish I had known of that dealer before I blew out ten longboxes for $550.
You'll likely get around 10% FMV. Those comics could sit in his bins for years before someone buys them, storage and overhead and the man hours of sorting, grading, and inventorying everything. Seems like a ripoff but considering all that, it really is the best they can offer, unless you have something they can flip instantly for a tidy profit. If that were the case 50% would be reasonable.

I would list them on eBay.uk and try to get them directly in a collector's hands. You'll likely get a bit better of a deal. Also, if you have anything like Craigslist out there, that may be the way to go. I make better money on Craigslist than I do on eBay, and no fees.
