This offer is still open to anyone that is interested. I received the books back today after their first trip out. KidMontana seemed to enjoy them a lot so it is all good so far. They are going out again tomorrow but after that I do not have anyone else on the list so anyone who wants to try the series out could get them soon.

Glad to hear they were returned without incident (sorry, I just had to use that). Props for your offer. I plan on investing in the Ultimate Collections in a few weeks as I just finished reading the first volume.

You're crazy in the best way. Absolutely love the series (currently buying them in the Ultimate Collection format) and I advise any interested (honest and trustworthy too!) people to take this offer up, great series.

Kudos dude, this is an awesome offer.

Wow, I can't believe I'm tempted to take the offer. Honestly, Capuga, can you just try to sell me on the book just on this thread? I'm a huge fan of Superman, so I would like to know what Invincible offers that Superman doesn't. That's not meant to be some kind of argument against Invincible, I'm genuinely curious to know what the book has to offer.

The book takes everything you love about superhero books and takes all those tropes and genre cliches and makes them new and fresh. I'm not sure how to best explain that except to say that Kirkman knows some of the pitfalls and complaints about superhero books and he sidesteps them with a wink at the audience. But he does it in a way that shows love for the genre rather than being a parody or deconstruction of it.

Kirkman's biggest strength as a writer in all of his series is building characters that people truly care about. You really root for the good guys in their fights and relationships and you really hate the villains. He does a great job getting you attached to the characters. It makes all the relationships (family, friend, and romantic) very poignant.

The series shows some true consequences for super powered fights. Cities are leveled, characters suffer brutal injuries, characters die and stay dead. It's a fantastical superhero filled universe but he tries to show what would really happen if people had these amazing powers.

I don't read a lot of Superman but from what I've seen there is a bit more humor in Invincible and it focuses more on the characters and a bit less on the superhero fights (just in comparison, there is plenty of superheroing going on).

And the art by Ryan Ottley is some of the best that you'll find in the industry.

Edit - And while Invincible is a really good guy and tries to do the right thing, he's a bit less of a boy scout than Superman so you'll get some stories of him making some mistakes and occasionally giving in the his anger control problems. He never moves into villain or anti-hero territory but he does have a touch more darkness than Clark Kent.

Make sure you get through at least the 2nd trade before deciding for sure. That's when things really kick in.

Time to bump this up. This offer is still open. Get caught up on the series before the big issue 100 that you've seen all the teasers for.

Last week I checked out the first two Ultimate Collection volumes from the library. Great read. Unfortunately they did not have any of the TPBs that come afterwards. Interesting story, though!

Let me know if you want to read the other volumes. I know the original post said only for people that haven't read anything yet but it sounds like you are new enough and the waiting list is not that full.

My trades are currently out on loan and then I have one more person on the waiting list. I see no reason not to send them out to someone like yourself if I don't have any other first time readers waiting.

    Hi All

There is a 3-day Invincible Comixology sale starting today if anybody is interested. $0.99 an issue and probably cheaper in collections.

I think I am going to have to pass unfortunately. I got the Walking Dead one and cannot afford to catch up that much and then add an ongoing to my list, but based on Walking Dead/Irredeemable Ant Man I cannot imagine it is a bad deal.
Chew, Daredevil, Fatale, Mind The Gap, The Sixth Gun and The Walking Dead

So I got the trades back unharmed from the 2nd person I lent them to. They are going back out again tomorrow but after that I do not have anyone else signed up. So if you are interested in this then please just let me know. Also, because the waiting list isn't getting long, I will go ahead and open this up to people that only read the beginning of the series and would like to get back into it and catch up. Just send me a PM.
