Default Interested in reading Invincible? An offer for you!

So Invincible is my all time favorite comic. I believe if you like super hero comics (or Robert Kirkman's other work) than you will love this book. I would like to see as many people as possible reading this book. One of the worries I've seen from people thinking about getting into the series is wading through 90+ issues of continuity and the money it would take to catch up. So I am going to make an offer to anyone thinking about getting into the series: I will lend you my trades and pay the shipping to send them to you. This is the agreement that I would expect for this:

    1. This is just a loan. I would expect you to ship them back to me. I plan on using a USPS flat rate medium priority mail box. That would cost you $11.35 to read up to 15 volumes of trades.

    2. You would need to be able to return them to within 3 weeks so that I can send them to the next person on the list. So read quickly.

    3. This is for new readers looking to get into the series. I don't want to be sending these out to people that have read most of the series but just haven't gotten around to the last couple of trades, for example. The goal is to hook in people that are not already reading this book.

    4. Obviously I would appreciate if the trades were maintained in the condition you receive them.

Of course the goal is that after reading these you will enjoy them, want more, and go out and buy the book from then on out in some form whether it is singles, trades, or hardcovers.

I will also be posting this offer over at the Image forums so I will send these out on a first come first serve basis while maintaining a list as to who contacts me the earliest. If you are interested just send me a PM or an email to jaqi16@aol.com with your mailing address.

For anyone interested in this series but not interested in this offer, I have a list of available Invincible collected editions put together with a suggestion on quickly and fairly cheaply catching up on the continuity that I can post if you ask.

Editing the first post so my recent addition doesn't get missed - The offer is now to read the compendium (first 48 issues) and the following 3 trades for free. But that's a lot of comics for just the cost of shipping it back to me (should be about $11.50 for priority flat rate box).

Dude, are you high or something? You ship your books to some anonymous person on the Internet and you're never going to see them again.

Yeah, it's a risk. But I also have the Library editions and Ultimate Collection hardcovers to go with the singles so it's not the end of the world if the trades get lost. Of course, I'm hoping that won't happen and the sense of community and goodwill will prevail. I decided I wanted to spread the Invincible love enough to take the risk.

I own all the trades and I have to say…this idea is cool if you only allow lending locally. I have a friend who opened a book store that does this in Chicago.

Dude…won't this cost a lot of money? Simply shipping it cross country will cost 30 bucks. Are you doing it globally as well?

I sincerely hope people don't screw you over, capuga. What you're doing is awesome. If I had an extra set of Invincible, I would totally be on board for a project like this.

I'd have to think about it if someone international asked. I plan on shipping this in the US in a medium flat rate priority mail box. That's only $11.35 no matter the weight. The trades should all fit in 1 box.

Wow man. Brave. I really hope no one decides to keep them. That would be pretty mean, but this IS the internet.

I approve of your desire to get more people reading Invincible, but considering how cheap you can get all of the Invincible trades on eBay, I would just point people there.

You are a good man. I would take you up on your offer, but i'd feel like crap if something were to happen to them in transit or whatnot. So I'll ask you this questions, is the newest issue (#92) an ok place to start? I figure that if I like a couple of issues, I'll get the tpb soon enough.

I replied in another thread, but 89 would be a better jumping on point. But, seriously, if you are interested please feel free to take me up on the offer. That's why I put it out there was to get people like yourself reading the series. I'm willing to take the risk to spread the love for this series. Just PM me if you're interested.

I started reading comics about 8 months ago, and I have been really wanting to read Invincible. I would love to take you up on your offer. I'm a completely new person to the forums, so if you're not interested in that, I totally get it - but I know me, and I know I'd take good care of your stuff!
