To put it this waythe New Nexican desertis a very mild version of Mongolia and the Arizona desert is a very mild version of the Sahara. Southern New Mexico has spots that are appropriate to the twilight zone especially in the South East.

I hated to leave that state but the job was elsewhere.

In Scalia's defense: a law can be constitutionally valid while still being a bad law.

Noting that laws forcing freed slaves to leave a state had been upheald as legally valid doesn't constitute an endorsement of those laws.

The problem with using that argument in this case is that freed slaves were not foriegn nationals and there was no explicit Constitutional clause granting the Federal government the exclusive power to make laws regarding them.

I can't fidn a link but I was reading yesterday - I think it was on Bloomberg - that the Supreme court didn't uphold the ID-check provision. Instead they referred it back to the lower courts for further consideration.

This time around, Sotomayor recused herself because she'd worked on the Federal government's case prior to her appointment. Next time, she won't.

Ah, that's my error then. Both women are recent appointees and I just confused the two.
