Default Can Anyone ID This Comic

This comic appeared in an episode of Route 66. The episode was filmed sometime in January 1962 so the comic can not be any older than that. There is some kind of blurb across the top of the cover. It reminds me of those Contest blurbs that were on DC and Charlton comics in the early 60s. I don't think this is a Marvel comic. I think it is a DC or Charlton or possibly a religious comic.

    Thanks.

Well, assuming that the title starts with "Sh", which I'm pretty sure it does, I don't think it's anything published by DC, Marvel, Charlton, Archie, Dell or Harvey. I checked all those cover galleries on Mike's Amazing World. A mystery indeed. Are we sure this is a comic book?

Is it just me or does that piece o' literature seem too thick for a conventional comic.

Also he looks to be enjoying himself too much to be reading religious stuff. The font is somewhat suggestive of a period piece, maybe to do with knights or medieval adventure.

    I don't have a clue.

Or maybe Sherwood something...as in Robin Hood.

My initial reaction was "The Sheik". Could it be wrestling-related? The blurb seems to be W-something-W in two places. I know nothing about wrestling and want to know less. Otherwise, maybe Shock or Shriek. Weren't those horror mags? I dream of those oldsters since I saw but never bought 'em. Maybe "The Shadow"? Why do you want to know? If desperate, you could try, e.g., the Library of Congress.

Thanks everyone. I think it was a comic of some type because in other scenes I can briefly see panels on the page he has folded back. Watching it again I think the title may be Shout!. Maybe it is some kind of Religious mag or Giveaway comic.

It appears to be Four Color Comics #1333, Apr - Jun 1962. The feature was called "Short Ribs."

    Nice job, Phil!

Danke. I Just pulled out the Overstreet and discovered this was the only title beginning "Sho___" on the stands for the date cited in the OP. One nice thing about the Overstreet guide is that it indexes the Dell Four Colors by both number AND title feature. Without the latter, I wouldn't have found it.

Waldo's easy as heck to find. It's right outside the place where I went to college, about 15 miles east of my hometown.

Me, I can't usually get 'em myself because my girlfriend's a vegetarian which pretty much makes me a vegetarian. But I do love the taste of a good burger.

I did, but I didn't find any titles that began with "Sh." I actually briefly wondered if it might have been a 4 Color, but didn't pursue that path of investigation.

Wasn't Short Ribs a newspaper strip once upon a time?
