Can't she just be "Oracle" or is that not iconic enough :grumble:

FYI, I thought I would share that there is an Oracle Heroclix figure out there over at http://www.trollandtoad.com/p237844.html

From what I saw around the 'net quantities appear limited but it sells for just under $12.00 on average. So if you want one I would suggest not delaying too long as don't forget how limited the Birds Of Prey Oracle figure was and how almost impossible it is to find now.
    Pull list:
Adventure Time, Batgirl, Batman & Robin, BOP, Earth 2, Guardians of the Galaxy, He-Man, Katana, Nightwing, Shadowman, Swamp Thing, The Ultimates, Ultimate Spider-Man, Worlds' Finest

The creators of Heroclix actually just previewed two new Barbara Gordon figures today (in both of her incarnations) on their website today. The Oracle figure has a much better scuplt than their last one.

Yes, I was trying to put the newer 10th anniversary of Heroclix Batgirl/Oracle edition up in addition to the first but my computer on this site has been running horribly slow for the past few minutes:

    Pull list:
Adventure Time, Batgirl, Batman & Robin, BOP, Earth 2, Guardians of the Galaxy, He-Man, Katana, Nightwing, Shadowman, Swamp Thing, The Ultimates, Ultimate Spider-Man, Worlds' Finest

Heroclix prices just go down with time instead of up, is all.
That figure and especially that card used to go for a lot more a few years ago because they were pretty deadly. Still are, of course, except that most tournaments only allow you to play the newer figures.

Ooh, I hadn't seen that yet.
    Batgirl seem kinda useles.
Oracle is still as powerful as ever. And a Martial Artist now, which opens up interesting options.

To those that don't know the game, she has abilities (if not the combat stats) that are usually reserved for Dr. Strange or prof. Xavier kind of characters .

Actually both have there uses. Batgirl's primary role is a attacking and distracting big guns while Oracle provides support. Both are great figures.

You are correct. The idea with the set their releasing is that they take an early incarnation of a character and a later incarnation of a character. If the early incarnation of the character (in this case Batgirl) is able to hit enough opponents she can upgrade to Oracle.

So from what I am hearing you saying is that they should not be seen as two separate heroclix players and "one being better than another" but are in fact meant to be used as a complimentary one-two punch combo pack. Have Batgirl clear some of the field first with her skill sets and then change to Oracle to boost up other characters in a players team with her transferable skill sets as they are then her agents to continue the fight against the opposing players team of heroclix characters.

As it says at the Heroclix site:

Batgirl begins play moving about the map with ease by using her Leap/Climb, and as she possesses the Batman Ally team ability, her use of Stealth won’t be hindering her mobility at all. If there is no hindering terrain available, Batgirl can use Smoke Cloud to provide some for herself and any allies also using the Batman Ally team ability. Combat Reflexes will make her harder to hit in close combat. On her second click, Batgirl switches things up a little as she shows her fighting spirit with Flurry to pummel her foes. Perplex also shows up to be applied to whatever combat value will most help her or her allies. As Batgirl loses her Smoke Cloud, she goes back to Leap/Climb, which she will continue to alternate between with Flurry for the rest of her dial.

At the end of her dial, Batgirl sees her last click of Combat Reflexes, and sees a new power on her dial, Incapacitate, allowing her to attack in close combat or use her printed 4 range. On her last click Batgirl has one more click of Perplex.

Paying homage to DC HeroClix: Unleashed #050, Batgirl has the Batman Family, Gotham City, and Martial Artist keywords, giving her some useful theme team options. At 42 points, she will be a useful support figure on any team you choose to include her on.

And like all of the “early appearance” character versions found in this set, Batgirl (#006) has a trait linking her two figural representations together. Battlefield Promotion: Oracle which states ” When Batgirl hits one or more opposing characters, after actions resolve, place a Promotion Token on his character card. You may then roll a d6 that can’t be rerolled and add 1 for each Promotion Token on his character card; on a result of 8 or higher, replace this character with DC10th Oracle on the same click number.”

First off, Oracle has a trait called My Eyes Are Everywhere. This trait states “If Oracle is not adjacent to an opposing character and is either in her starting area or on elevated terrain, she can draw lines of fire and count range and squares from the square of any single friendly character that has the Batman Family, Birds of Prey or Justice League keyword.”

Oracle has a special power called The Mystery of the Oracle. This power allows Oracle to be given a power action to choose Outwit, Perplex, or Probability Control. She can use the chosen power until the beginning of her next turn. This power runs the entire length of her dial. Keeping Oracle in relative safety is her Batman Ally team ability, allowing her to use Stealth. A mix of Willpower, representing her never give up attitude, and Combat Reflexes, (she is a trained martial artist and has developed amazing upper body strength due to her wheelchair) are the other powers on her dial.

Oracle has the Batman Family, Birds of Prey, Gotham City, Justice League, and Martial Artist keywords, giving her plenty of theme team options, but the most useful are the ones that work with her trait. At 73 points, Oracle is sure to be a valuable asset to your force.

So this set is indeed meant to work together in a complimentary fashion and not to be used separately. So neither is "useless" as one can't be utlized to it's fullest potential in terms of heroclix game play w/out the use of the other to win the game. I love symmetry

I think the designers intended for players to use Batgirl to gets some quick hits in to upgrade to Oracle while still using Batgirl's lower point cost. The only problem is that Oracle needs to be out of the fight to be used properly so there isn't any use for that. The use Oracle is going to end up being seen is on Justice League and Birds of Prey teams, but not so much competitive play. I'm upset that they didn't make her compatible for Suicide Squad teams.

Not really. At 42 points with 5 clicks of life and 2 damage, Batgirl isn't going to be clearing much of anything. She's a tie-up piece. She annoys and distracts Thors and Hulks (very briefly because she's extremely fragile) while your own big guns blast attack them. Alternatively, she can finish off mostly KOed enemies.

But most of all this Batgirl is going to be Oracle. She's going to stay out of the fight entirely as much as possible, hide in the shadows, and use her Perplex to help other characters.

Like the article says: "At 42 points, she will be a useful support figure on any team..."

To clarify, Robins are 50-80 points. Batmen are 80-120 points. Cassandra Cain was 70 points. Superman is 200+

I don't really think the Battlefield Promotion thing is going to be used that much.

I think it really depends on the character. Someone like Hulk will be great for Battlefield Promotion because his role is always the same, you can just upgrade to a more powerful version.
