Longest breath-holding underwater?

Who has the longest feat of holding their breath underwater without being able to directly breath underwater or use an apparatus?

Apparently Akuma walked along the Atlantic Ocean for a while.

Between that and Ikaros from Sora No Otoshimono, who did the same (though I'm not sure she actually needs to breathe), I think this competition is wrapped up.

The joke answer would, of course, be someone who doesn't need to breathe, as they could stay underwater as long as they wanted without issue. But that would be against the spirit of the thread.

Something like that. Apparently he found a cave and decided to meditate there for an unknown period of time. Since we don't know how long, I doubt we can use that.

Probably Superman or the like? Viltrumites can hold their breath for two weeks while travelling through space, for example.

According to the goalie guy, the REALLY good ones can stay under for all day. Just on holding their breath. They can SLEEP underwater.

I was tempted to say Mario, from his water levels in SMB. He's clearly breathing out the whole time, considering the bubbles.

But then I remembered the stage timer. Technically SMB Mario can't even breathe air for ten minutes without dying.
