Not sure that actually flies. The Romans had the gladius as a main weapon, and it was an even dinkier little thing, a glorified dagger, but hell, it was still the scariest blade in the ancient world, by the time they were done. Medieval soldiers could use big swords because they had the heavy armour to expose themselves for big strokes that would normally get a broadsword swinging barbarian gutted by a Roman or Greek short sword.

Diana, not being in heavy armour, uh...makes sense for her to not use a big old choppy thing, even if she has the best reflexes in the group. That being said, she'd probably look just as good with the kopis, but I imagine they picked the xiphos because it was the more famous Greek sword, being the standard Spartan backup weapon and all. I think they were the only force to standardize gear there though. Most hoplite forces actually preferred to carry the kopis, or some other slashing blade, but that was FAR from standardized.

And lol about the breasts. Unless...of course, it's supposed to be metal armour, so it doesn't deform without its wearer...>_<

Jim has a sense of humor. That #10 cover and the individual Leaguer poses are hilarious. Apart from Diana retaining boobs and Supes's pondering meaning...Hal is covering his crotch...Arthur looks all precious looking...Barry is like a little shy little girl covering himself. Bruce is in a normal I am the night death pose.

The typical Roman soldier carried two kinds of weapons: two javelins (one heavy, one light) and the gladius, a short sword. The javelins were meant chiefly to be thrown, although the heavy javelin could also be used as a pike against a cavalry charge. But the sword was small because it was meant to be used from behind a large shield. So long as Roman soldiers stayed in formation, a melee charge with heavy weapons like broadswords would not be particularly effective, and they drilled extensively to stay in formation.

So, the real reason Diana wanted to come to man's world was implants?

p.s. I don't mind Diana using a sword, however: 1) lasso should be the primary weapon. 2) the sword should be special somehow (ala Thor doesn't have a Craftsman hammer), and 3) get the girl a scabbard already.

A rebellious statement. "Not only am I NOT cutting off one of my boobs, I'm gonna go make the ones I have even bigger!"

    The Romans used spears too.

The gladius was a backup just like the greek swords. Also, you're making a strawman arguement. "The Romans did this, so it means it's true".

It's a comic book so who cares about real world practicality?

I just prefer a greek sword because it's tied to her mythology and because it's not huge and overbearing over her iconography. It's more subtle and doesnt make her into a barbarian.

I agree. I love how Katana's sword supposedly holds her husband's soul and everyone she kills gets trapped in it as well. WW's sword could have some cool thing like that.

Damn they look like ballers in those covers. I've been waiting for this kind of art on Justice League since X-Men #1.
