'Beautiful as Aphrodite, Wise as Athena, Swifter than Mercury, Stronger than Hercules' was on the first page of Wonder Woman for a very long time. I'm pretty sure it pre-dates Captain Marvel, but I could be wrong.

AFAIK in the Golden Age all the powers were the result of training. This was a big deal, because other Amazons had similar powers, and women not from Paradise Island might acquire similar ones to some extent. I think divine gifts were first mentioned in Kanigher's Silver Age retelling of the origin.
