I've always loved how Vaughn gives his characters so many layers. Even his heroes, always have shades of gray. I think Vaughn is one of the best in the business in creating characters who seem real, human flaws and all.

I thought last issue was kinda weak, but this one is right back on track. I really like how he humanizes the characters. Each one has their faults and your left face palming at some of their unchoice actions and words. The Will has led a thoughtless life with no clear goal; just going from assignment to assignment. He wants to love, wants something better. But he hasn't been given the proper opportunity. He's going to get some direction and do the right thing by the end. It seems standard fare, but I like it. Also, the end of each isssue always present good cliffhangers. BKV is a master at this because he's been dropping hints about how great a fighter the father was. I want to see him in action; bet he's a BA. 8/10

Finally got a chance to sit down and read this one. Loved it, again. I know the plot didn't move along as much as in the other issues, but I liked it just the same. BKV could write about paint drying and I wouldn't care. I love The Will and Lying Cat so seeing him develop as a character was great. He has head smashing power?! He's such a lovable, melancholy fellow. BKV is definitely trying to make him sympathetic and slowly unwind a back story. I wouldn't be surprised if somewhere down the line he teams up with the heroes instead of killing them.
