    Default Mysterio in SpiderMen

i wonder if Bendis reads 616. or he just doesnt care. he doesnt care about continuity in his own universe, so why would he care about 616 continuity? i just read Ends Of The Earth, and 616 Mysterio plays a major role. Then over in SpiderMen, Spidey runs into 616 Mysterio, and neither of them mention anything from EOTE (like how they teamed up and fought on the same side) instead they just start fighting each other.

maybe it was Ultimate Mysterio in SpiderMen and not the same 616 Mysterio who appeared in EOTE? or maybe bendis just didnt read EOTE and doesnt care about us.

Who says the story doesn't take place before EOTE? It could, but I doubt it.
Why do they need to say anything? They don't.
Are you quickly placing faults on a story that has yet to finish being told? Absolutely.

I don't want to derail the thread here, but you've been making the same assumptions for months about The Amazing Spiderman movie.

Also, I thought that the Mysterio that Peter Parker met in the 616 universe was actually Ultimate Mysterio. That's why he made reference to watching Peter die once already.

Bull. I've been giving my opinion on everything that has been given, I'm not jumping to wild conclusions because I don't like what the writer of a comic has done in the past.

    I'm thinking it's the opposite.

Wouldn't Pete have asked about Mysterio killing himself? And whatever happened to the Mysterio from the Spidey/Black cat mini?

Mysterio from Spider-Man / Black Cat mini threw down with another Mysterio in "Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man" and there was a third, undead Quinitin Beck with a hole in his head Mysterio. Then Quintin Beck showed up in Brand New Day. With no explanation how he came back from blowing his brains out in Daredevil. Which is why I think Ultimate Mysterio has been posing as 616 Beck since Beck is dead and all. Need more story time to figure that one out.

This could have happened before or after EOTE. This could be happening in a completely different universe. This could be a completely self-contained story This could be happening inside and autistic kid's snow globe. We have no idea yet. Waaaaay too soon for any continuity complaints.
Out of curiosity, do you read any titles besides Spider-Man books? There are lots of continuity issues in almost every book, but this isn't one quite yet.

He wasn't jumping to any conclusions either. Just saying that Peter and Mysterio would hesitate (at least Peter would) for a second after realizing Mysterio had helped. But, Bendis never cared about continuity (PETER WAS OLDER THAN SIXTEEN WHEN HE DIED) so he might have retconned that too for his own purpose. IT ISN'T YOUR UNIVERSE YOU'RE SCREWING UP HERE BENDIS! First of all Mysterio didn't help them much in ends of the earth and ended up ditching them when they still needed his help. He would still get a poor reaction from Spider-Man.

Second, it's a seperate story , so it could be happening months later or months before. It's not an Amazing Spider-Man issue. It's a seperate spider-man story. Spider-Man has had a million bad run ins with Mysterio. He does not like him. He reacted how Spider-Man always does when he sees Mysterio.

Third, If he sees him a short time after he helped him out a little to save his own ass after helping dock ock almost destroy the planet, it's not gonna be a friendly reunion. Especially when he's clearly up to another scheme! Spider-Man is not gonna be happy to see this idiot.

Man.. it seems like when it comes to Bendis, if there's nothing to nit pick about, people will invent things to nit pick about.

See this is why saying "616 Mysterio is ultimate mysterio" is absolutely ridiculous.

Spidey saw a mystical explosion and followed it to a hole in a roof. He saw Mysterio-esq costumes and instantly knew who was behind it. Even if they had recently teamed up Spidey knows that someone like Mysterio is always causing trouble, not turning over new leafs. Plus, there's the fact that Mysterio attached him... in the study... with a lead pipe...

As it stands now, it appears that Ultimate Mysterio has been jumping to various alternate realities, 616 being one of them. For whatever reason (I say he's in search of another Zodiac Key, but that's just speculation) he has also been impersonating those universe' Mysterio's. Obviously whatever his plans are he's intending to carry them out incognito. His comments about the dead Peter Parker confirm that he is, in fact, Ultimate Mysterio.

Also, here's another thought that I don't think has even been brought up yet: Maybe there are two Mysterio's running around 616. The real one AND Ultimate Mysterio in disguise. We really don't even have any proof yet that Ultimate Mysterio has been in 616 for very long. For all we know he had JUST jumped over there and immediately was confronted by Peter before he even had a chance to finish hanging up all his costumes. The real Mysterio could have been the one in all the big events lately, and Ultimate Mysterio is the one who was in that room with the vortex thingy.

Keep in mind that with all those costumes there it stands to reason that he's trekking the multiverse, not just 616. I doubt Mysterio is dead in all those universe', so at any given time there are TWO Mysterio's in that particular universe when he goes there; The native one, and himself.

I would assume that Ultimate Mysterio / Beck has been in 616 for awhile since he's already rockin the Fishbowl Head outfit & is whining about "missing" Peter Parker's death. On the flipside, there could not be an "Ultimate" Mysterio and it's been 616 Beck all along (resurrection still unexplained).

Also, you know, let's wait until the end of issue #5 to point out Bendis' flaws. For all we know this gets explained next issue.

im not jumping to conclusions about the "goodness" of the story. ive gotten on board with "spidermen" (the cross dimension travel didnt seem as ridiculous as i thought it would be) and i hope it IS in fact ultimate mysterio posing as 616 mysterio. im just sayin at least a nod to whats been going on in "amazing" would have been nice. and im not hating on everything bendis does. i like what he does most of the time. but the one thing that bugs me the most is how blatantly he ignores continuity. its sometimes insulting to me the reader. and the fact that hes writing the "amazing" spiderman in this book, you would think (hope) that he is at least caught up with whats been going on with the character.
