Contunity errors and retcons

iv been looking through my back issues lately being excited for divided we fall and trying to refresh my memory of events in the UU and iv realized that while this line is relatively young compared to the main streem marvel u theres still a lot of continuity errors and unnecessary retcons that urk me. so i thought it might ease my mind to post some i realized and try to find a way to smooth them over thats a plausible in continuity explanation. id love it if people post their own to because i have a feeling the few i post arnt the only ones. big or small i wanna hear them!

the fiew i have:

millars retcon of iron mans origins:
while it was a relitively simple way of doing so, by this extent millar also made ultimate human non cannon too. now i know people will hate on the whole tony being some kind o ginat brain but i personally find it a really cool change to the character that embodies what the ultimate universe is all about. i think that even though millar retconed it it would be easy enough to say that tony still has these traits and released the tv show showed in ult. avengers to pull a reverse psychology move, making it seem so ridiculous that noone would think its true. this also brings anthony stark into a conflict, but tonys father could have easaly had an afair thus producing gregory. could be why they have such a rivalry between them.


Bendis's inclusion of the 616 universes ironman armors in tonys lab:

this one really urks me, cause this means tonys 1 step away from doning a cheesy 616 armor and become a copy of his original self. the whole point of the uu is to be realistic and believable. thats why i could accept the movie armor taking over, cause it was realistic, but theres nothing realistic about most of the 616s early armor. not quite sure it needs fixing. just declair it a neat background thing and not in continuity.

yeah but these are for the most part 616 armors. i just think its taking a step backwards to include those cause if you look at his origins issues or the brief spot some of his other armors get in early ultimates issues they are more like his original ultimate armor. besides the ultimate marvel teamup armor, they all look like they fit in to the ultimate universe, unlike all the 616 ones that really dont seem like they place well

I like how Tony is constantly upgrading his tech. I don't consider any of his suits to be non-canon except for the one's from Ultimate Ironman I & II.

Obviously the spanish cartoon was using the real-life models as the likeness for the armors in the show. Tony must have actually used those armors in his career as Iron Man. So they are canon, but the stories in UIM and UIMII are not.

Does everyone just not remember the part in Ultimates 2 where he wears the (O___O) faced armour? =P I swear this has come up before, those suit designs are still canon, just the story of IMI and II is not.

That's exactly what I just said. The armors exist and were obviously the basis for the armors in the spanish cartoon. Those stories are non-canon but the armors are.

A lot of the stuff from early on when Bendis was cramming in newly minted Ultimate versions of characters into Ultimate Spider-Man willy-nilly without a thought towards backstory. And then theres the Ultimate Fantastic Four mess...

The other armors could have come from different realities. It was explained in Ultimate Armor Wars that Tony did some reality hopping with Reed Richards. That's where he found the 242 head. He wasn't afraid of bringing stuff back with him to reverse engineer.

as long as he doesnt use any of them, like especially any of the erlier 616 ones


and the whole ironman 1 and 2 armor being cannon still doesnt fix the fact that with the undoing of those 2 stories in contuinuity ultimate human ceases to be cannon aswell.

also, just found one:
volstag tells thor in utimates 2 that loki has escaped where as in ultimate thor mini thor and bader meet at the stone formation and come to this conclusion before issue 5 of ultimates vol 1
