Well this thread sure took a turn for the stupid...
I ignored him in till after walking dead compendium 2 comes out and I'm caught up. Too many spoliers happening for me I know half of it is my fault though. So my new rule is if you're posting without spoliers warnings I'm add you to ignore in till I'm caught up on walking dead as long as it was a spoiler on accident. If they do it on purpose then forever. I can deal with his trolling not spoilers though. If i wanted it ruined Id just pirate a copy online and never buy the books.
Walking dead spoiler-
I really did need to know that- spoilers:end of spoilers
Rick gets his hand cut off
Was't expecting too many spoilers though as I thought the discussion would be mainly about sales. That's why I stay out of the main walking dead thread now.

To be fair, you're talking about several year old spoilers. They're not really spoilers anymore.
Well yeah I know. I said before. I know half of it is my fault though. Still annoying though because I don't expect spoliers. With the expections of minor little things here and there. Mainly Discussing the sales.
That's why when ever I talk about walking dead I make my own threads and tell them to give spolier warnings. I still want to be able to take part in these conversations without ruining the story nor having been caught up to it.
The main walking dead thread is where I expect people to say things without using the spoiler feature. In a thread that's not dedicated to the story I think its common courtesy to use the spoiler warning else we be ruining it for each other. Id rather deal with name calling then spoliers.
In the main walking dead thread I can expect the spoilers. In threads like this I expect some people to be on the first few trades only.
In a thread about the 100th issue you expect people to treat a six and a half year old spoiler (about 70 issues ago) with kid gloves?
Yeah man, that is entirely your fault.
Yeah its a thread about the sales of issue #100 the thread has nothing to do with walking dead story. That's what the main walking dead thread is for discussing the story in the comics. Else why would there be multiple walking dead threads?
The title is asking if sales will break sale barriers. Anytime someone asks if something is suppose to break sales barriers you're suppose to expect spoilers? I say to some degree yes but that's what the spoiler feature was created for.
Like I said this isn't the main thread to discuss the story. I expect people to come in here and read about issue #100 sales and only having read the first few trades. I don't expect everyone here to be caught up to issue 100 or to not come here at all. That's what the spoiler feature is for. Probably why it was invented to begin with.
Which I know I'm not the only one because I've seen posts that said they purchased issue #100 but they couldn't read it till the 2nd book came out. So yes like I said this isn't the thread for discussion of the walking dead story. Its a thread for the discussion of issue #100 sales. Where if you do happen to have to need to say a spoiler using tags would be common courtesy.

Several months back there was a pretty big thing that happened, I of course won't say what it is but it was big and well, I came here and boom, it was spoiled for me.
I mean it was f'in 9am in the morning, my CS wasn't even open yet. But the a55hat who posted the spoiler was probably on the east coast.
Personally, I think the mods should suspend anyone who posts spoilers within hours of a book being released. Or make me a mod so I can do it. :)
What they should do is like gamefaqs does make it a moddable offense and dedicate a thread to disscussing the story with spoliers. For instance IMO every main comic should have a thread labeled spoiler disscussion here. That way every main comics has a dedicated thread for spoilers.
That way for instance like issue #99 comes out tomorrow some a$$hat on the east coast can't come into a thread like this and blab out the spoilers when others don't expect it.
Take a little responsibility for yourself. If there's a new issue of a comic out, I stay away from the thread until I've read the issue. It's called common sense. Unfortunately it isn't that common.
Further, if I'm reading a thread about the sales of a milestone issue, yes, I'd expect the possibility of spoilers. Why? Because I err on the side of caution.
Further further, it's a six and a half year old event. It no longer qualifies as a spoiler. Bruce Willis was dead the whole movie. Darth Vader is Luke's father etc. You missed the boat, man. That isn't anyone else's responsibility.
Not to derail this thread more but you know there is such a thing as the spoilers:end of spoilers
spoiler tag option
Child Of The Atom Smasher
Common sense would tell a person that the net has had rules since the start about spoilers and that if one was going to post spoilers, to either put spoilers in the title of the thread, or to use the spoiler tags. However, you're right, common sense isn't that common anymore, and neither is common decency. Yes, common sense can also be applied to the other side as well, it does make sense to keep away from the thread on the day a new issue is released if one doesn't want to risk having it spoiled but sadly, the only reason common sense would have to be applied is because there are the socially inept a55hats who post spoilers.
Which is why I think it would just be easier to ban those who post the spoilers.. ;)
Without spoiler tags or spoiler in the title that is...
And woohoo.. I hit 1000 posts..
Do I get a badge?
I think its a little ridiculous to come to a Walking Dead thread and not expect any mention about the story when you start comparing the show and the comic. I also think its a little ridiculous when you come to a thread in the morning of new comic day before you read the comic and not expect people to be discussing the story. For the record, I use spoiler tags on a story until after the first week or until other people have dropped them in a thread, but people could use a little common sense.
There is nothing wrong with trade waiting but considering people that do it aren't all going to be in the same place in the story unless they're on the most current trade, it's a little annoying for the rest of us to have to constantly spoiler tag. If you want to make a thread for trade waiters, go ahead, but next you'll get complaints from people who are compendium waiting. My opinion stay off a thread if you're behind unless you want to risk being spoiled.
So I should get banned because I'd like to talk about the issue at hand that I and others have read because you can't refrain from reading the threads about current issues before you've read the issue? that's... that's just fucking stupid.
again, take responsibility for yourself. I do. I don't read the threads until I've read the issue. I don't read threads about things I haven't seen/read/whatever.
asking people to use spoiler tags because you're six and a half years and 70 odd issues behind is just ridiculous. I'm sorry you missed the boat, but that's on you. it's not my job to protect you from the world. read the damn compendium already. it's been out for a while. the only excuse at this point is your decision to not have read what is available and that is your decision. labeling all threads "spoilers" should pretty much go without saying, but there's that common sense I mentioned, again.
for what it's worth I have suggested a trade waiters thread and a current issue thread. the existing thread would be the current issue thread. no spoilers.
The guidelines about spoilers on the net have been in play since the golden age...
The term spoiler was introduced in the early days of the internet, on the internet, and is often associated with specialist internet sites and in newsgroup postings. Early rules of netiquette insisted that spoilers could and should be normally avoided, but if the posting of "spoiling" information was unavoidable, it be preceded by a warning ("SPOILER!"), or the spoiler itself has to be masked so that it can not be visible to any but those keen for details
Basic etiquette..
Really not that difficult...
I'm not saying those who can't help but run their mouths the minute a new issue comes out can't still blab like the lil yentas they are, I'm just saying more and more newbs are coming into play, so show a lil common courtesy and use f'in spoiler tags.
I blame Microsoft.. they just made getting online far too easy.
