Nice to know the collector mentality still lives.
Free your soul and let it fly....
i wont lie, ive ordered every cover
Holy sheewizzus. I'll probably be lucky to get the Quitely cover since they're all pretty much spoken for.
All boils down to which cover my LCS owner puts aside for me. I'm hoping for either of the Charlie Alard covers. The wraparound is great but the "something to fear: Part 4" would keep it more consistent.
even though that run of covers is terribly inconsistent with the prvious 90-something covers on the book.
I'll be buying the regular cover. that's fine for me. I read my comics.
retailers are gonna have a ton of comics left on the shelves, lmao.
the book sells in the 30's, and they are ordering 10 times as much. Never underestimate the stupidity of business owners
"Calm down, call Batman." - Greg Capullo
Recent estimates place the monthly series over 50,000 copies in sales each month, and the collected trade paperbacks of the book continue to top all reported sales charts both inside and outside the Direct Market.
Little more than 30s.
For a creator owned non-big 2 book, that's huge.
and that's sad.
I've only read the first two trades but I plan on picking up this issue, if just for one of the covers. I love Quitely but I'm not crazy about his cover (or any of his variants lately) but I also like the Hitch one (though this isn't his best effort either). The others are really great too, especially Phillips' and Ottley's, which at least prominently feature the characters unique to WD and not just zombies.
This is awesome news. As much as people complain about variants (and I understand) I don't really see the harm when the covers all look as varied as they do in this case. That Silvestri cover looks great.
Read The Call, African fantasy at its best http://coalminds.com/webcomics/thecall_adaptive04.html
I don't usually get variants. But if I happen to like the variant a lot more than the standard cover and my store isn't selling it for much more I'll get it instead.
I think this is great news. Even though I don't really care about variants, the sales are big enough to make the big two take notice. It shows that a book will sell if it's consistent and well done. Doesn't have to be part of the next big thing.
