I think Superman has that same non-human perspective even though he was raised on Earth. Once you can start seeing atoms, the electrical impulses that make human bodies run, hear everything around you, and are immune to all diseases, you'd start seeing the world a lot differently. We see this in Action, as Superman becomes more focused on the overall planet the more his powers increase and the more he learns about Krypton (for if a planet of supermen could die, it means Earth could as well--making Superman more concerned with the overall health of his adopted world). Then there's the fact that Superman's brain has been said to work differently, how even Kryptonian children are so smart that they easily avoid accidents human children wouldn't and that Kryptonians have some kind of genetic dislike of killing.

    That's all pretty alien stuff.

We haven't seen the history, but they still seem to be tight. They've been in the JL together for years and Bats called him up last issue.

Kryptonian genetic dislike of killing? What nonsense. Tell that to Zod.

Of course Superman is concerned with the fate of the planet when the need arises, but the rest of the time I think it's his M.O. to try enacting social change, inspire human transcendence, and help out the little guy.

As for a homosexual relationship, I think he and Batman are too politically different. Kal's always had populist liberal leanings, while Bruce is obviously a libertarian conservative extremist.

He and J'onn would be okay, but J'onn can be very alien indeed and while Kal can certainly appreciate and inform that himself, I think he tends to keep himself grounded out of both force of habit and fear of losing his humanity, so he'd be unlikely to date J'onn.

Apollo's not a bad call, but they'd have massive differences and fights over killing, which Apollo does without thinking and Kal has severe problems with.

Nightwing? He's fun, energetic, witty, passionate, and I suppose moderate conservative but not to the point where it would be a problem, they'd be far more likely to work it out.

If I want to team him up with someone whose politics match up with him, I'd suggest Green Arrow, the famous limousine liberal, but he's also even more hotheaded than Kal, which might lead to clashing if they ever did find something to fight over.

No, I'm going to have to go with Jimmy Olsen. He's young, energetic, sympathetic to Superman's causes, and most importantly, though he's known for crazy adventures, he's not actually a super-hero, which fits Clark's grounding psychological needs.

So are comic books. That's why super-heroes go after killers.

    Sex Luthor.

Seriously though, he'd probably date a guy who was a lot like Lois. Another male journalist. Not Jimmy.

In the superhero realm, it's really hard to say.
